It's a sad day for mothma. I fear I must find another approach.
The Durandal Initiative: We're Back
Yep, a lot of speculation on how this new way will effect MSU lists. I still think they'll be effective but this new Wave will definitely increase Large Base ship sightings and I think that's only to the benefit of the game as a whole. Long live the Emperor!!

I'm thinking a Leia C90 swarm with a IFP pelta

@SgtDurandal tried out a proxy of that IFP card and it is a great upgrade. I think after I'm done with my shrimp fleets in a month or so I may revisit the Pelta. I want to love it but that speed 2....
Once more into the breach good friends! LIVE @ 8:30 pm MST

For those curious, my probable fleet is posted below. I'm trying a lighter fighter screen to get another activation. I don't know if Shara and Tycho will be enough though against a Sloane ball. Those scatters may not last.

That’s a lot of tie advanced

They did pretty well for him. I really don’t get why people are down on them. they are pretty nice squads. I would choose them over xwings in more than a few situations given the chance.

Usually with Sloane you want dice that toss blue against ships hoping for the hit or accuracy since she gives you the crit reroll. For 12 points what you are gaining over a tie is the two hull and a black anti ship dice, which is why people usually go with three generic ties over two generic advanced that don't have the support options of the rebels such as gallant haven or jan's braces. There a decent ship but the lack of the bomber keyword makes folks look at other options.

Pretty sure
@SgtDurandal
brought those for the Escort assuming I'd have a bigger squad ball but I could be wrong. I don't
always
know what he's thinking
We did talk about the lack of bomber compared to the X-wing and I personally feel it's made up for by the black die but maybe not?

I agree the black die guaranteeing a hit 2/3 of a time is big, but for sloane a lot of times you are more looking at the accuracies to strip tokens. Most of the time when I have faced Sloane or ran her you don't see Dengar (who needs the escort to live) but rather a series of generic tie fighters all sent out behind Howlrunner to get those extra dice and swarm and followed up by Mauler to kill what you were shooting at. Add in Mareek and Jendon and a couple of other aces like Ciena and Valen you have a fairly potent squad killing list that doesn't need escort and gives you extra set up activations.

You're 100% spot on with this @Palanthas . While I was bringing the TIE Adv for their Escort ability I found that I sorely missed not having more squads that threw blue dice at ships. There was a full round towards the end there that I activated 5 squads and didn't roll 1 accuracy when I really needed to. I'll be revisiting the squad composition before our next match. My worry is with out Escort Howl Runner is going to be murdered first with not much I'll be able to do about it.

I like this idea a lot and the revised squad list I've been working on looks very similar. Thanks for the suggestions!

And you're right, the original plan was to have enough Escort to keep both Dengar and Howl Runner alive while also forcing Soontir Fel's ability to pop every time you were forced to attack an escort. I just don't think that it's an efficient use of points.

Oh boy.. I can't wait to see what fun new death awaits me!
Ok so here's a quick run down of my thoughts and strategies employed on our last match up as well as some random comments on my fleet:
Western Sodak is in the middle of a blizzard. Weather permitting The Durandal Initiative will be streaming Part 5 of their Regionals practice sessions. Both of us have settle on a fleet type and are starting to hone in on the final builds.
*** Unfortunately, due to deteriorating conditions and the police dept. advising no travel in the city tonight's stream has been cancelled. ***

Stay safe the stream can wait. Keep the snow on your side though.
Since yesterday's stream was canceled due to weather the powers that be have granted us permission to get a makeup match in tonight. Starting around 830ish MST

Continuing our Regionals Practice series... Part 6 will LIVE stream Thursday night. Stop by and drop us a line in the chat:
With Regionals less than a month away we continue to tweak our fleets. durandal343 decides to shelve the MC30 Mothma fleet and try out the new hotness... Admiral Raddus. Will SgtDurandal's Sloan Avenger fleet be able to handle this new madness? Tune in Thursday to find out.

LOL, they ain't dead yet...
@durandal343
just wants to try something different. If I had to bet $ I'd bet he'll still end up flying MC30s at Regionals.

I've been beaten in to some serious indecision. @SgtDurandal 's Sloane fleets have just completely destroyed me. I probably didn't fly my fleets well against him but still. I have no confidence whatsoever so now it's just a mad scramble of fleet building.. which is probably counter-productive. But it seems therapeutic so off I go!

Need Jan and escorts? I'm trying to update this myself.
