Blue Rose Conversion (and fan templates)

By CarrotandStick, in Genesys

Hi all! Big fan of Blue Rose as a setting, but not so much the AGE system, so I'm doing a conversion (starting with magic, moving on to races later). Does anyone have any resources or tips for getting visual formatting to look similar to the actual Genesys books?

Edit: Also, anyone want to help me come up with a magical equivalent to Table 1.6-2 on page 104, "SPENDING ADVANTAGE AND TRIUMPH IN COMBAT" ? There's a threat and despair table, but no advantage and triumph...

Check the master resources list, one of the three pinned posts, right here, there they have links for things like GM binder to get the proper fonts etc.

As for a missing advantage and triumph table, wouldn't many of the same things that is in table 1.6-2 work for magic as well?

Nice! I discovered Blue Rose at Gen Con 50 and swooped everything I could get my hands on. I have not read the rules much outside of the dice mechanics. Interested to see how you convert the world.

It's not so much about converting the world itself, but the species (specifically Rhydan) and the magic/psionics system. I've started with the latter. Mostly I've just had to specify guidelines for holding powers by concentration, and how using powers via Mind Link works. It's actually been fairly straightforward once I identified the specific hurdles that needed to be overcome, which speaks well for Genesys' adaptability. I'm also thinking of honouring Blue Rose 2e's system by which only some psionic powers were fatiguing; this might help soften the investment compared to Genesys' default magic system (8 magic skills instead of 3, and very specific uses for each as opposed to the more freeform default).

I'll put my work in progress up on a Google Doc at some point once it's not just a word doc of barely formatted scribblings. =P
