UNOFFICIAL X-Wing Huge Ship FAQ

I first created this a couple years ago and have updated it on occasion. @Darth Meanie's recent topic and this new sub-forum made me think that it's time to re-post it.

The primary goal for this FAQ is clarifying existing rules interactions, not to balance anything.

If there's something that needs to be added, or if you disagree with something in it (and I know people will), please discuss! But even more importantly submit a rules question to FFG about it (the more epic/huge related questions they receive, the more apparent a need for a real Epic FAQ will be).

I would argue that the "tokens do not affect huge ships" line in the huge ship rules makes esege not work.

It's not possession of the token causing that card conflict.

For simplicity sake (although I want Esege ability to work for Huge ships) we can say it doesn't for now until FFG clears this up or we have a podcast panel of 3 Judges, a proponent for and a proponent against and a review of the rules and the pilot card to hammer out or explain any other interaction that apply and state why this interaction applies and this interaction does not apply.

Also for Lebo <crew> I am not a proponenant of banned cards but since we don't know how boost will work on huge ships I think that is a candidate for a ban.

As was pointed out to me semi-recently, Leebo grants a free boost action, and epic ships cannot take free actions. Leebo does nothing.

Well that also points out why we need an update to the Epic side of FAQ otherwise this upgrade would do nothing.

A. I like podcasters fine, but why should they get more say than other players?

B. There IS an official email ruling allowing Esege to work, see linked doc in OP for reference.

Oh snap.

I see it now. So the thing about tokens not affecting the ships is a description not the rule itself. The receive discard bit is the rule. If that's the RAI then yeah esege totally a go for helping epics. I hope they just errata that "does not affect" line out cause then it would kill the confusion.

I didn't mean podcasters but have some sort of TO panel that can present the argument over a podcast so that players can hear the deliberation over it. Yeah podcasters should not have more say than players, especially given some pod casters now these days (which have greatly disappointed me in there recent episodes).

There is some email from FFG that said Huge ships can use Esege's token but the detractors counter with an interpretation that as soon as the Huge ship uses it it is immediately discarded for no effect. Again, that is only an email, it doesn't come with the same level of authority as official rulings such as an F.A.Q.

Would somone be able to quote the clarification or link to a scan of the C-ROC's insert?

"Huge ships cannot perform free actions UNLESS they are equipped with an Upgrade card that allows them to, such as the "Automated Protocols" Upgrade card."
