Witch of Salem & Innsmouth Escape

By MrBody, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Saw these two games at a store. Anyone play them?

Witch of Salem looks like a scaled down German version of Arkham Horror while Innsmouth Escape pits one player trying to escape Innsmouth and everyone else as cultists trying to trap them. Was thinking of checking them out.

I actually played "Witch of Salem" - or "Der Hexer von Salem" how it's called in its original title - at a games fair. As an AH maniac, I quickly spotted the ideas it borrowed from Arkham. I found the game very dull and dumbed down. If you enjoy Arkham, my guess is you won't like Witch of Salem. It's a game that caters to the foolish, ignorant masses that are not ready yet for the blasphemeous enjoyment you get out of Arkham.

Try it out first! Don't buy it at a whim!

Innsmouth Escape has a very interesting 'secret movement' mechanic and a huge pile of deep one figures but the end game is very weak. It can have up to four deep one teams against the single human team. If you just play one deep one team against the human, deep ones lose every time. I've been considering revamping the rules for quite a while, just to fix the endgame failure. It's another 'try it first' one.
