High potential or just new set Legacies overthinking?
Thoughts on Leadership in Vader/Gunray deck?
First legacy deck I built once I got my cards. Unfortunately no games in yet.
I really think leadership has to be included anytime you play a single die unique red especially when that character is under 10 character points. The potential to roll in Vader again is very high, higher for each upgrade you put on him. The real question will be the other red cards that you want to include. You are giving up bait and switch and a lot of what most would consider good mitigate cards in villain yellow. Electrostaff is one of the reasons for including red in melee heavy decks, but Vader doesn't have a pay side.
We can turn this around and look at heroes. Rose gives heroes something similar, an 8 point unique red that they didn't have before. Can Mace benefit from partnering with Rose and using leadership/electrostaff? I think so.
eVader + Bib Fortuna.
Add Endurances, cheap focuses like Dark Counsel and Crystal Ball, few blue weapons, and spice that up with standard Vader removal-force strike-price of failuer package.
With Bib and Endurances you are not worried about mitigation at all. Counsels and Ball cover up consistency. And if not mitigated you have potential to roll 3 Vader dice per turn.
Vader/Gunray is silly. Seriously even if Vader has no upgrades Leadership is so worth it.
I played it 5 times yesterday/today and only 1 of them i didnt get to utilize Leadership atleast once - only won that game because my opponent rolled....laughably bad...but the other 4 i won handily because Vader getting 5 activations in the first 3 turns is just ridiculous. Especially if i started with Maul's saber in my hand and managed to get the 3rd resource
I played against a mate yesterday that was running the Nute Vader deck I built against my Tarkin Kylo2 deck. Only once in three games did Nute live long enough for me to decide whether to discard or lose the money.

Surely if you're reliably getting a turn 1 kill against a 8 health character thats going to apply to most of Vaders partner choices?
Did your opponent get leadership off for a 2nd Vader activation at any point? Did he use the first turn damage you pumped into Nute instead of Vader to his advantage?
To me, Leadership is the big reason to use Nute over the more outright damaging MagnaGuard.
Who could you pair Vader with with more than 8hp anyway that still actually does something to justify hitting them first, or Guardian? Sure the Veteran Stormtrooper is 9hp and fits in but theres also no reason to go for him first and he would require other cards that vader doesnt want to be able to do anything.
He's usually with the Magna Guard, which is in the same boat as Nute: 8hp and is threatening enough (or annoying enough) to justify nuking him down before goin to Vader. Yeah the Magna Guard doesnt actually die till the end of the round, rarely actually matters anyway.
But MagnaGuard cant use Leadership to ready Vader, and even an unupgraded Vader getting multiple activations a turn is deadlier than the Magnaguard could ever dream of.
Just the treat of Leadership ensures that Vader gets his extra 8pts of health. This will usually mean Leadership is a dead card to go along with the dead Nute but still useful against the rare mill deck.
