That ship you never fly...

Did you try Imperial Kath?

I flew her with Kylo Upsilon in a fun control list. Basically the opponent had to choose every round how much stress they wanted and where ISYTDS would land.

I bought an E-Wing, tried Corran, didn't like it, and put it back in my case. It just felt too weak and expensive outside of PTL Corran to ever be useful in list building.

I fly mostly Rebels and Scum.

I had to think about it a bit, but I've never flown a Millennium Falcon for Rebels. Which sounds really weird to me because the most common list type I fly is large base + small base 2 ship. I guess it's just always been Dash as my large base choice.

For scum I have yet to fly Brobots, but that's mainly because I don't have 2 Aggressors.

I own 3 E-Wings. Don't ask.

The TIE Phantom. It came out when I was just starting, so the mechanisms of cloak/uncloak were a little higher than I wanted to raech at the time. Now that's it's been nerfed, I feel like I will never get to see it's "true potential", so I'm a little meh on tabling it.

For ships I own (there are a few of the new waves I don't have): I haven't put my Quadjumper on the table yet, and I'm not sure but I also might never have flown a Kihraxz. Oh, and the TIE Aggressor (forgot because it's so new). I think I've flown a Rebel HWK exactly once (with Rey, even though the HWK was one of the earliest ships I bought), and I hadn't flown the Starviper which came in my Autothrusters Expansion until Thweek, and even then only once.

I play rebels, but I've never flown the U-wing. I want to, the model is so cool, it's just.....not good.

I've had a lot of fun with the following U-Wing build (I can't recall who I stole it from onhere so I can't give credit):

Cassian Andor with Expert Handling, Advanced Sensors, Inspiring Recruit, Kyle Katarn, title, Experimental Interface, at 39 points. It's a load of fun. Pre-move you take a focus or TL, then EI into EH for a barrel roll and two stress. Clear the stress with a green move and IR, then wind up with 2 more focus tokens from Kyle. I like to fly with Debris, so that there are safer places to land after a barrel roll. Stress isn't too bad to have, since even if you don't do your full combo, you can just pull a green for Kyle focus into a regular action.

It's surprisingly nimble, can shed low-PS target locks, and the sheer number of tokens goes a long way.

I almost never fly scum... but I've never flown the Aggressor. I got two for my birthday, I opened them up but never flew them. Same with the YV-666. I think I've flown my shadowcaster once... jump master thrice... so yea. they are the ships I never fly.

In all honesty, only ones I haven’t flown in my collection are

m-3a (just haven’t gotten around to it)

lambda (just got it)

resistance bomber (that’ll change tomorrow)

I never fly the JMK5K because it's too weak - it really needs some help like bombs and torps plz.

There are too many to name. Been collecting 4 years - all factions - but only found a local gaming group about 8 months ago so of my 81 total ships of 41 different ship types, there are about 15 that I have flown 0 or 1 times.

Most of them are large bases since I play this game because, well its Star Wars, but also because I have always been fascinated with dog fighting. To that end I mostly look to fly 3-6 ship lists and I try to use matching pairs of the same type. So 2 Kihraxz with 2 Scyks, 2 A's with 2 X's or 4 Ties with 2 Bombers and such.

I have never flown my Tie Phantom, ARC, K-Wing and Star Vipers (and I now have 3 after getting 2 guns for hire packs.)

We have a local guy who last year decided to run every single pilot (not ship) at least once. He finished right before the newest wave released. He's got his work cut out for him again.

Scum exclusive. The Firespray rarely sees tabletime, in favor of sleeker ships who will do the same thing or better, for less points. Haven't had a chance to fly the Scurrg or the Kimogila yet, but that can be attributed to a lack of opportunity to play at all than a lack of interest. I may just whip up a list with the two just to have some experience with both chassis on the table.

I'm heavy into scum, but I haven't flown a K-Fighter once. Even with the Most Wanted, I'm just not that interested in them.

As an imperial player, decimator. As a whole, 50+ point turret ships.

There are several ships I don't use because I either don't like the models, concepts, or they don't look Star Wars-y enough for me. They are:

Rebel - Ghost, Attack Shuttle, Sheathipede (terrible name), E-Wing, K-wing, Auzituck Gunship

Imperial - Decimator, TIE Aggressor

Scum - Aggressor, Shadow Caster, G1A Starfighter

I've used most of my ships at least once but there are a few I haven't flown on the table yet, not counting Waves 12 and 13 as I haven't played many games since they came out:

Rebel - Sabine's TIE, Nym

Imperial - TIE Punisher (don't use ordnance that often so struggled to fit it into a list)

Scum - Scurrg, Scum Y-Wing, Protectorate Starfighter (don't own one of those yet)

I fly rebels almost exclusively and I nearly never fly the Rebel TIE and the Y-Wing.

So just curious, outside of the obligatory I don’t really fly that faction response. What is your primary faction to fly, and what ship did you get and yet never use not even for the random casual fun list? Why don’t you fly that ship?

So I’ll start. I am big on the Imperial ships. Love the look and uniformity of TIEs. Yet, I don’t ever use my TIE ADV. Prototype. I took it out of the package, tested the Guidance Chips, the XX-23 Thread tracers, and the ship has sat in the box since. I watched others play it, especially Inquisitor, and I just saw no advantage to it over the Intercepters at the time. The dial is tighter, and like M3-A’s one Direct hit and your gone. Also just doesn’t look right, that odd white, covered panels, blech. Just not a ship that has excited me. I’ve made punishers work, not easy but been done, but the TAP, nope just in the box but no inclination to reach for it.

Bruh.

5 PS2 TAPs with Title, chips and cruise missiles

QD with Targeting synchronizer and harpoon chips + 3 PS2 TAPs with Title, chips and harpoon.

I think i have a problem with the Firespray being a fighterish ship in a big base.

Add to that obstacles and not much timeplay/experience...

The Inquisitor's TiE. Never liked the combat-egg-look. It has a couple of neat tricks, but most of them are just overshadowed on some other chassis when it comes to fun factor.

In Standard, I really should fly the Firespray more. But it has come into its own for me in Epic.

Practice strategy: Take 2 bases of the same size. Place one on the table. Pick a maneuver. Without using the maneuver template, place the 2nd base where you think the ship’s final position should be. Then put the maneuver template between the 2 bases and see how close you get. Keep practicing until you can place the 2nd base where any maneuver would end. Then do it with obstacles.

I used to practice this way on my kitchen counter while I was making dinner. You don’t need a lot of space or time, and it’s a great way to get better at X-wing without setting up a whole game.

That's a good idea.

I'll have to give it a try.

I primarily fly Imperials; I rarely if ever fly the lambda. I think I used it once just after buying it, and since then it’s just occupied space. A cursory exam of Aturi Cluster scenarios shows it’ll get more use when I get a campaign up and running, but even then it’s being played by scenario rules and dice, so I still will not be flying it.

I just prefer a more openly aggressive approach to my squads, so most of my lists use various TIE configurations plus the occasional Decimator or Firespray.

Oh, and lest I forget, many lists MUST include the Raider, because Epic rules.
