That ship you never fly...

By Ronu, in X-Wing

Hmmm, Ive flown everything, but I am mostly imperials, and probably have flown the interceptor the least. I had a little run with Carnor Jax for a bit. Never really put Soontir on the table cause I despised him back in the day.

I prefer to fly maneuverable ships, dont really care which faction, but Imperials are my favourite. I tried the Kimogila not long after I bought it..I sucked in it, I need a lot more practice to fly ships like it. I would love to fly the Interceptor more, but in the current Ordinance meta, it will die too quickly. Now if the release a Interceptor/FO with a tech and or system slot..that would be great..No the Silencer isn't the same thing.

To be honest. The TAP and the Mist Hunter are ships I haven't flow. Oh there is also the quadjumper.

I flew 2 Jakku Gunrunners a little while back. Using the Tractor array throws peoples plans into disarray, was such a fun game to play,

If something's too popular, I don't fly it. So many people flew TIE Strikers when those came out, I still haven't flown them. That's the one ship I've never flown.

My TIE Aggressors did actually hit the mat once, and I flew an Auzituck once to help a buddy benchmark his list against Fairship Rebels.

I have flown everything else at least once (even the Epic ships), except for the Kimogila and the C-ROC, which I haven't gotten around to yet.

Watched Rogue One again tonight, so I kinda feel like getting my Strikers out though...

Edit: I lied. I think I did actually fly my Strikers once. And I haven't flown my brand-new Resistance Bombers yet.

I play Rebels and Scum. It usually take me some time to buy ships as my budget is limited. So there is no ship I would have bought and never played it. On the other hand, there is a Quadjumper. I bought it because the ship is so freaking beautiful. I have played it in about three games and enjoyed it. However, I never played it since then.

Does it count?

Yeah, I don't mean they are bad, I just haven't gotten around to using them. The Imperial A-wing was something that I never thought much of as the Real one can do all sort of new tricks with dual EPTs. As for the space helo I want to give that a try but I only picked up one and don't know how a support ship that moves slower than a HWK fit into any list I can make. MAybe with the Kllimanjario or Killroy or whatever nick name you want to give that ship I could give it a try. Tractor beam into the bullseye arc, both slow, but in order to make the msot use of it I need to use constable.

C-ROC and the entirety of the latest wave - except for the Gunboat.

I look at the bomber, Kimogila, shuttlebug, and Silencer and think, 'Yes, they look fun, but....Gunboat!' And fly my gunboats instead.

Try it with PTL+Unhiged Astro+Cloaking Device :)

TIE Punishers

Played 'Redline' a couple of times when I first bought it but realized its overcosted. Once Bomblets came out I broke out 'Deathrain' with Bomblet, Advanced Sensors and LWF which is super fun, but also overcosted. Haven't really picked them up since.

I used to love the Imperial Firespray back in the day (Krassis with HLC and Rebel Captive; or Kath Scarlet with gunner and marksmanship or tactician) but I think I've only flown it once in the last year (during a casual fleet campaign league).

Also most of my Scum collection does not see a lot of play. I stopped playing scum entirely after wave 8 when they started to get truly obnoxiously OP. Just started getting back into them now that the Starviper is playable and the Jumpmaster is no longer an auto-include in list building.

The Imperial Firespray is best used, I think, with the unique imperial crew - Rebel Captive and Agent Kallus are both awesome for a Firespray-31.

On combination I've seen used which was a surprisingly effective mix:

  • Kath Scarlet
    • Slave 1
    • A Score To Settle
    • Agent Kallus
    • Long Range Scanners

I'm an Imperial player. I've flown all the ships, but ships that are collecting the dust after just a couple of outings are:

- firespray: just can't make it work for the points cost. Ptl would be good if it weren't for that dial....

- punisher: even with bomblet generator, unguided rockets and lwf it rarely gets value. Deathrain was fun though...

Surprised to hear about the tap not getting any love. It's one of my favourite ships, although my recent games I've played the inquisitor the opposing player has had thweek and mimicked the ability - its great on a tap, is better on a ship with a native 3 dice attack!!

I have only scums, I think that my less flyed ships are the Y Wing and G1A, mostly because I find their pilots a little bit boring, but they can find its place. I am thinking in a stress+tractor-spam list with 4-Lom, Ventress and M3A interceptor with the stress cannon, but I don't have a Shadow Caster.

I fly everything - but the ships I fly least are the Ghost, Upsilon and likely the Resistance bomber - AKA, all the ships that are just too big to fit in my normal storage solutions - and end up sitting with my epic stuff.

I mostly fly Rebels, though competitively I’ve been flying Scum Boba for a year!

i won’t use my Ghost outside of scenario or intro gaming. I regard the ship itself as only slightly less broken than the original Jumpmaster, and I’m very much aware that the data doesn’t back that up, yet, but I suspect it will surface as a threat this regional season. It also looks like a Lego brick.

I won’t buy the Decimator. Large high ps boosting turrets that go faster than a-wings and interceptors annoy me, especially being able to arc dodge with that much health. RAClo is an NPE for me, as was gunner/Vader when I flew aces.

I fly Rebels and Imperials about equally.

For Rebels, I never used Biggs out of principle, but that would be pilot. Regarding rebel ships, I tried every ship but the BSF17 so far. The U-wing is just pointless, there‘s always a better alternative. The rebel TIE is also not a ship I enjoy. PS9 Ahsoka is ok, and Sabine is fun, but I don‘t think they pull their weight. Other than these I think all ships are fine.

For imperials... Punisher, Firespray and Upsilon.

Punisher doesn‘t match my way to play, Firespray is just so much better for Scum, and the Upsilon... I don‘t know, just never appealed to me

Of the standard play ships I own, the ships I've flown least is probably the K-Wing. In fact, I don't think I've ever flown it that I can remember.

Most of my other ships have had a good run out though.

I've never flown the TIE Adv. Prototype, despite owning it since release. I've never even bought a JM5K, and refuse to use it even on Vassal. In the Rebel faction, I've never flown the attack shuttle in person (despite playing some hilarious 4 shuttle lists on Vassal). I've never flown an ARC-170.

The ships I avoid flying are the ones I personally find boring, or can't justify flying due to their stupid op-ness.

As a mostly Imperial player I flew TIE Phantom just once. TIE Advanced never.

But I have some scum ships and tried to pick some that I would play, so I got myself two protectorate starfighters, repainted and played them once. Never played headhunters.

Tie punisher we all know why.

Whilst I have a near complete collection I will never fly any Scum, or any Rebel Scum.

Imperial:

I bought the Twin Ion Mk2 expansion and the ship it came with only comes out when my friends want to borrow it. They still won’t trade or buy it unless I include the Twin Ion Mk2 upgrades. I can’t understand why...

Rebel:

I sold my K-wing for a handy profit and I don’t miss it. I played it for a stretch last year, then made a personal comitment to never again fly anything just because it is good. I only fly ships and lists I enjoy.

Scum:

I sold or traded most of my Scum collection almost a year ago for the same reason I sold the K-wing. The only Scum ship I played with since then was the Quadjumper in a Mario Kart game.

I like to collect and fly everything and I really try to, but there's one abomination which's name I can't spell, pronounce, comes with no upgrades I'm interested in, can't accept its looks, nor am I interested in its possible roles in a decent 100 pts list...

And that's the Aussie Truck.

Got my compiled list together for keeping track of my 2018 goal of using all the ships I have at least once in the calendar year. Was shocked at how few were counted. I will be counting imperial AI in HotAC as played, because they are my ships moving on a mat. That made my numbers look a little better.

As i don't have too much play time, i have lots of ships i haven't tried, but i plan to.

Honorific mentions go to:

-Imperial Firespray. It sucks, and i suck (more). So bad experience. Just once, not planning to try it much more.

-YT2400. No interest in turrets, and it's not a Millenium Falcon. Just once, planning to sell.

-Starviper. Unused since i bought the AT expansion. But i like the ship, and i plan to use it with GfH.
