Wave 7 Ackbar

My take on an Ackbar swarm that I think is really set free by the arrival of the twins for reliable red dice out of the assault frigate. My only question is whether ECM is even necessary for the flagship- it should be staying at long range, and Lando is there for if something does close the gap. Would RBD be better?

I also could drop the fighter screen to two VCX’s and two hawks for strategic objectives. Or drop to z95’s and put Intel Officers on all the cr90’s

I like it especially the twin slicer tools. If you are spending 10 points on EA then I would get more use out of it and take Gunnery Team over the twins. Firing out of both side arcs can happen but then your flagship is usually being concentrated on.

Is Fire lanes ok? Ackbar doesn't count for adding up the dice in range of tokens and your fleet is small ships that often like to run away a bit. You could get muscled away.

Im a fan of Ackbar trc90s. This is very similar to a list I almost brought yesterday.

I love the twins on an AF, and wouldn't give up ecm.

Would you go down to slaved turrets? Most likely I will only be getting the one side arc shot but on the off chance I COULD slash I know I’d be missing EA... I really want to have C&S on there so I can reroll those fickle reds.

I never really flew them myself as if I went Ackbar I went death pickle- now that C&S can give you reliability on Assault Frigate reds you can still have a beefier ship AND a trc90 swarm...

Mike always had fun with them and I figured now I could get in on the party haha

I run a defiance + 3x trc90 + gr75 and some A's but I am definitely now considering dropping the defiance to a C&S Frigate.

I dont know if Gunnery teams is needed per se as you dont want to be splitting damage, you really want to focus and burn.

I might go with QBT as its half the cost and doesnt need the reroll cause whatever you get will be good so it still ups reliability in whatever shots you take.

Maybe use the saved points to convert lando to intel, since unlike the mc80 defiance version you will usually be wanting to.move thw AF first and inteling the brace will either push more damage or let the 90s push more rest of the turn.

Alternatively, could use the points to turn one A into a VCX.

Honestly, i would probably go intel and turn Tycho AND 1 A into vcx's and run the good ol AG, FL, SN objective combo.

While I love QBT, I don’t think it has a home on this ship- it’s great on ISD’s cause they love to slow roll and snipe- H1 can cheat and proc it while still engine teching, but I feel that the assault frigate will want to be turning and burning to keep up with the swarm and keep out of danger... It’s definitly the best candidate for the Intel Officer, but I’ve gobbled up too many Assault frigates with a Demo Triple tap or single mc30 activation. Since I have Ackbar on it I NEED it to survive- the only way to guarantee(ish) that is to have a very strong bid for first, or Lando insurance.

I think i will play around with it a bit and try to get VCX’s in there for strategic- maybe just them and some z’s... with double Slicer Tools i should be able to avoid most alpha strikes to make sure my fragile squad screen can get the jump instead

Or vcxs and shara? That tends to work as the vcxs function as a fat generic a wing in a pinch haha.

So by moving Ackbar to Jaina’s Light I can change Lando to IO on the frigate, and won’t be as reluctant to slash with it if/when the opportunity arises. Changed the squads to 2 VCX’s and 3 z95’s, and came to a total of 396. Thoughts?

Tinkered with it some more and ended up with this- I leaned pretty hard on the double slicers and just eliminated squads altogether, but I get much more ship oomph, we’ll see if they’re enough to kill carriers while they chase me and (hopefully) don’t get a squad command off. Could also drop the other 30 to a trc90 and deck out the 30 with admonition/apt/IO, or get a third Slicer Tools

So I flew this version today and was very pleased with it. It puts out an impressive amount of firepower at long range, and is very manouverable as a fleet- those trc90’s can DANCE! My only concern is the squad screen- with speed 3 those z’s run the risk of getting alpha’d by a-wings/interceptors.... then again, if they’re shooting at my squads they’re not shooting my ships and I’m ok with that... No bid for first, but with Lando on the flagship it can take a last/first punch, and the cr90’s should be able to keep at range anyway. Need to test it vs a wider variety of lists but I’m very happy with initial results

So by swapping my squads to 2 VCX’s, Tycho and one A-wing I can put quantum storm onto a Slicer Tools for better range. Lose a deployment but the squads are quicker and more versatile so I think it’s worth it

Ran it again twice today- once vs a neb gunline and once vs a superpickle w/ 4 repair crew gozantis and squads. Really happy with how versatile the list is, it can adapt and adjust strategies on the fly and still pump out rediculous firepower. The flagship is amazingly resilient and was able to trade broadsides with Home One until I took it down, however the trc90’s really are glass cannons- I tend to be aggressive with them but got one just barely in range of the superpickles side arc and paid dearly for it, poor Jaina got deleted in a single volley. I think I’ve settled on Tycho/Shara/Two A-wings, and I found double slicers to be a bit meh so I dropped the non QS one for a Hondo comms net, which works better for supporting my frigate. Total comes to 395 points and in supremely happy with the list! Now I just have to wait for it to be legal lol

Mzyself and a friend had a shocker of a game the other day.... couldnt call anything by their real names, calling cr90s raiders, etc.
