Just a few thoughts to give some insight into a different meta, interested to hear how it compares with your local.

Thanks for sharing! Can you give any more details about the other podium lists? You mentioned a double MC30 list - Do you remember if it had any other combat activations or squadrons, or just a pile of flotillas? By Whales, I assume you mean assault frigates?

I'd be really interested in reading more about your fight against Ace Holes. Most reports have indicated that Sloane squadrons still weren't enough to crack Gallant Haven.

From memory the double MC30 list had 6 activations including 4 transports and the double MC30s and a small squadron contingent of 2-3 X-wings and 2 VCX's, I'd assume a bid too. finished with 20/30pts
2nd overall was 2 *** Frigates (Whales), 4 GR75's and 12 Y-wings that might have included Dutch and Nora? Finished with 21/30

You know what it was **** hard, between natural braces and Jan Ors braces anything less than 3 damage was a write off so my Sloan ball really wasn't doing much damage. That said he came in hard to bomb my ISD with most of his squads so I basically just focussed on killing Jan Ors during that initial bombing attack turn so that I could Tie down all of his squadrons with mine in the turn after. Gallant Haven went down in a single volley to Avenger in turn 3 because its manoeuvring is so predictable so turn 4 onwards was just cleanup for the Sloan squadrons. The ISD survived the game on zero shields (having regenerated 2) and 8/11 cards having regenerated 1.
The plan was risky and I thought I was in a bit of poop around turn 3 because after blasting reiken's whale apart I was planning to jump over the rebel line and fishtail hard to get out of there but managed to clip a transport by a mm or so putting me right back into hot water.
Given that I had more deployments and activations I would mix the plan up slightly next time and come in from a side rather than straight up the middle. I think when you go up against Gallant Haven you just have to be realistic about what you can/can't do. Any squadron attack against guys in the bubble is a bad damage/risk scenario so if you can't kill Gallant haven you need to engage somewhere else. If you can't do that then don't engage. The biggest limitation to that build is that it's threat range is small and predictable. Going first also isn't necessarily an advantage to Reiken given that this build doesn't have an alpha strike unit and their movement is so predictable that it's not hard to hit with your striker even as second player.
The morale to the story is that if you engage it on their terms, arbitrarily going first which gives them a massive strategic bonus and then attack inside the bubble you will get smashed hard. It's a good list but it's got one real trick that you can work around easily enough if you think about it.
Good work.
The exact same squad mix that won me Nordics.
But an additional flotilla, which is a natural reaction to the 6 activation GHY.
SQUADRONS AND GOZANTI FOREVER!
Thanks beefcake!
Btw, where are you in Switzerland? I am there too ![]()
Good feedback on the day.
I was hoping to make it but logistics ruled me out. 6 hour drive at the endof the day was just a little to far solo.

I think its about the most tweaked Sloane build you can get unless somone else has suggestions. 1 More point and I'd be putting in Soontir.
The lack of escort is a possible issue and normally I love my Bossk and Zertik but that doesn't work in this list.
