Yoda! You seek Yoda!

By Hawkstrike, in X-Wing

"A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack."

"Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try."

- Yoda

Yoda [Crew, Rebel Only, Dual Card] {3 points}

Side 1: Knowledge

At the end of the activation phase, you may exchange an action token assigned to your ship for another token associated with an action on your action bar. If you spend that token, flip this card.

Side 2: Defense

Once per round, before you roll defense dice, state aloud a number of evade results. If you roll that number of results, add an equal number of evade results to your roll. Then flip this card.

"Wars not make one great"

his card does nothing

Yeah, I'm just going to rain on your parade. :(

During the GCW, Yoda sat it out on Dagobah.

If Yoda gets in this game, it should be because we've launched into the Prequels.

Beat me to it.

As an added bonus he could be both a crew member AND a pilot!

Did you mean: overpowered beyond belief of C-3PO?

I thought that too at first, but it’s also much more of a gamble. You can’t just guess zero and take the guaranteed evade. If you guess 3 and add 3, that’s cool, but how often will that happen? (And how often will you need 6 evades?)

Obi-wan crew card, sacrifices himself to discard a damage card and ‘red’ token, and gives ‘go to Dagobah’ condition to any friendly ship.

Go To the Dagobah System

condition

Place 3 tracking tokens on this card. Remove one tracking token at the beginning of the combat phase. While this card has at least one tracking token the ship this card is assigned to may flee the board on a neutral edge and not be destroyed. If this ship flees it may be redeployed during a following activation phase at its PS + 2 within range one of any edge. Assign one ‘green’ token to this ship when it redeploys.

yoda tokens: ‘green’ tokens that may be spent as if they were focus or evade tokens. These are not removed at the end of the end phase.

-not complicated enough?

I’m sure the way it’s going will be Sabine will fly him in Rebels or something.

Boba Fett, Darth Maul, and Captain Phasma all say hi, too. Dead doesn't mean much in Star Wars.

I really don't. But Yoda's role was much more significant during the Clone Wars. And I want Prequel stuff. Like the Darth version of Maul.

BUT, even at that, I think "Old Ben" should get a place before Yoda if we are sticking with the GCW.

@Darth Meanie Your earlier post gave me the impression that you didn’t want any prequel content in X-wing. I’m glad I was wrong.

I think it’s a mistake to write off all that potential game content just because people tend to disavow the prequels movies.

No way.

In my perfect XWM world, they spend a couple more waves porting forward things like the V-Wing, Belbullab-22, N1, et. al. into the GCW era. Then, they release a S&V type box that adds a couple more CW-era only ships, plus retcons the ARC-170, a Jango Fett Firespray, etc. into a Prequel Era release with cardboard and dials for Republic and CiS, giving both factions immediate access to a bunch of ships to make listbuilding diverse.

I like my Star Wars high quality, but I'm too much of a junkie to reject all but the worst (Vong, *cough* *cough*).

Yoda was a coward.

I don't know how anyone could make a Yoda dual card and not have the abilities be "Do" and "Do not."

"Do" improves your attack in some way, "Do not" gives you an evade token and a weapons disabled token" or something like that.

Side A: Lie.

Side B: Run Away.

Prior to Episode 8, I'd have agreed. But, luckily, we can now use Episode 8 to justify Yoda's presence in the game as some sort of Lightning-Slingin' Force Ghost companion. Make him a "Luke only" or maybe "Luke or Rey only" EPT (Yoda's Company, or something) and let him be "Once Per Round, choose an Enemy Ship at Range 1 and roll three attack dice. The enemy ship suffers any damage and critical damage rolled." Zap! Zap! Zap!

Bonus points if a player scream "Magic missile! Magic missile! Magic missile!" as they make their Yoda rolls.

I like it! make it -1 points so you simple exchange your crew slot for 1 point discount, since is unique it could not be abused.
