Just buying all the force awakens expansions?

By Spoeff, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Im new at this game.

I saw all the the expansions and the the 2 core sets.

Would it be a bad idea for buying all the force awakens expansions first? It not for playing tournaments, just have some fun with friends.

I would buy:

2 the force awakens core sets

1 heroes of the resistance exp

1 resistance bomber

1 Upsilon class shuttle

1 tie silencer

1 t-70 xwing

1 tie/fo

1 tie/sf

Would this be e good combination to have some fun or would i miss some gameplay elements that are essential for the game?

If your goal is to just play with friends, then you don’t need much more than that.

Absolutely fantastic idea. The Force Awakens and Last Jedi stuff are all perfectly balanced against each other, and allow for a lot of really cool and balanced lists! Just a quick visit to the Squad Lists subforum will give you tons of Poe/Rey and Kylo/Quickdraw lists, so with a few tweaks, you and a buddy will also be able to attend tournaments and do pretty well (if you want to do that eventually).

You can also skip the Upsilon and Resistance Bomber if you want, or at least leave those for last.

Resistance vs. First Order is definitely how I would suggest anyone start this game at this point.

I think the First Order subfaction is by far the best of all the possible faction options. Investing in their ships right out of the gate is a great idea.

All of the new trilogy cards kind of go together, so getting all of the ships that can use them will be a lot of fun.

Enjoy the game and long may the Emperor live!

Thanks guys for the quick replay :)

not a bad idea. if you are considering the tournament scene it might not be the best approach, but for friendly games there is nothing wrong with it.

the main thing to remember is that since each set offers different card options (with only some overlap), sticking to just the TFA/TLJ sets means you will not have access to some cards and upgrades. which is why it might not be the best choice for tournament play, but the TFA/TLJ sets should have plenty of options for fun builds.
