Disney has made it clear. There's a new mouse ... sorry ... director mouse ... wait ... sheriff director mouse in town and they want to put a WHOLE bunch of distance between the new and the old. What worked and what did not. Where they are going vs where they have been with the movies. Don't want to spoil anything for anyone but consider some of the primary dialogue and philosophy in TLJ. That whole matter of the past and what to do with it. New movies are systemically removing "things" ... do not want to say anything spoiler related ... associated with the original movies. There's now just enough to appease long-time fans. Super restricted diet worth yet there. It is a small word, after all, and the fanbase needs to get along ... young and old.
Like, I am shocked this game is not being launched with minis based on TFW and TLJ. My guess on that is, well, the disposable income customer being sought resides with age ranges tied more to the original trilogy. Also, the original trilogy worked. Makes sense to start there. Keep it parked there. Hook folks and, then, go right to the new movies.
The prequel movies ... that event between the new and the old films ...polarizing and sort of make like it never happened? Maybe not a good place to start or, given how that IP is now categorized, ever go or be allowed to go or allow anyone to go? Tea leaves start stacking up that appears the case. Do not like it and typical Disney move. Let's apply hygiene to history and pretend it never happened and make a happy, happy place ... broken logic.
Pumped for the game and holding out hope FFG gets enough latitude from Disney to do the most logical moves with the game versus being forced to specific mouse authored amendments. FFG has a chance to create such a cool game and, hopefully, they are allowed to do so. I want Tusken Raiders and Pao and I want all the Prequel folks to get their droids and such. Everyone ends up with what they want and smiling, which is SO Disney, yet they seem bent on ... just this one time ... not doing what they have always done.
This is all little tongue in cheek ... just poking little fun at the mouse.
