Star Wars Legion....(Dust Warfare)

By simpatikool, in Star Wars: Legion

Reading the last few previews, I can't help but notice similarities on some of the "new" Legion mechanics and the old but wonderful game Dust Warfare. Any other old Warfare fans seeing this?

never played, although if you look hard enough it does also appear like an evolution from their other star wars games (xwing->armada->legion)

That said it's not surprising, from what little i did see around the dust forums there wasn't much criticism of the core rules per say.

Yeah, it’s been mentioned by a few of us how many influences are being drawn from Dust. Not a bad thing at all...,hugely under appreciated rules set imo.

Totally agree. Sorry if I missed those point before, I have not been paying much attention to this game, but now my curiosity is getting the better of me....

Unless you've been here in the forums you wouldn't have. All we know for sure is the prject was given to Alex davey with almost free reign on how he wanted to do it.It makes sense that he resurrected ( from what i understand) a solid ruleset with a few tweaks that wasn't in use otherwise to be the backbone of the game.

The good ideas in Dust Warfare were wasted on the awful setting and the awful minis. Legion can make them shine.

I dont know much about the setting in Dust but I do love many of the models. Dieselpunk warmachinery!

Personally though, my dream come true would be to see FFG make the rules for 40k. That would be the end of my time, my wallet and me.

It's a weird world war setting. Good concept, poor followthrough.

I’m actually selling/sold off all my Dust Warfare/Tactics miniatures to fund this game.

It appears it will play very similar. The movement is almost the same, “weapon lines” on cards, vehicles have directional sight/front arc and troops have 360 degrees.

DUST good sytem , cool setting, overpriced Miniatures with terrible PR (not all of it their fault)

I am really hyoed knowing Legion is using many of the DUST mechanics

The funny thing is I was kinda tempted by dust but the theme just didn't grab me back when it came out

Have been playing Dust Warefare for 6 years now. It is awsome!!!! We have alot to be excited about! FFG owns the rule set to Dust Warefare so its no coincideance that they used them for Legion. Almost everything is identical. Even alot of the deployment objective and condition cards are named the same. The idea of the game being so much about the objective is going to be amazing in the star wars universe and set this game apart from the rest. I am just ver interested in how the reaction/overwatch mechanic works in this game, but the surpression mechanic is great!

List building may be all over the place in the sence that you dont need a list to try and counter everything in the game. You may have a strong list that does not have much in the way of taking on heavy units like AtSts or force users to deal with a Luke or Vader, but is mobile, light and great for objective getting: because the main focus is on getting objectives, not blowing snowspeerders up. At least thats how Dust was, which is a nice change to gaming.

We have always wanted a Star Wars version and even made our own Star Wars unit cards from Dust cards so we could use our Star wars minis with dust rules about 2 years ago (wish Alex would have asked for my help on Legion lol)

Be excited..... very excited!
