you can eliminate any card already. The leftmost uneliminated card at the end is the one that gets used for setup. So maybe a unit that lets you change the order of a row as one of your eliminations.

Well the article says (with some emphasis added), "First, three random cards from each category are displayed faceup, as shown above. Then, starting with the first player, you and your opponent alternate selecting a category and eliminating the leftmost card in it." Though we've come to expect inaccuracies in the articles so you may very well be right.

yes, i definitely didnt read it as "eliminate any card". But as you say.....basing opinions on the generally only vaguely accurate (at best) previews is a sure path to the Dark Side.

Kinda like DUST Warfare was, but you pick 2 times per person and the Leftmost card.

In this case it helps you eliminate OR get to the card you want, while not giving you everything you want. I like it.

If you get 9 random candies and discard 4 of them, chances are the remaining 5 are at least palatable.

I agree with setting up the terrain, but choosing the cards that way takes all control of the players. It's still random, just more random.

And by going through the selection process, if there is one card that absolutely destroys your army you can be sure to get rid of it.

It will depend on my local players and how the different methods work out once we have the game in front of us. I've already scheduled our first tournament for early March, so there will be some talk about it.

I would just do it however FFG says in their official tournament rules.

I’ve never played any tournament or competitive games like this, but in other tabletop games can you see your opponents models and army list before setup or is that something revealed over the unit deployment step, taking you completely by surprise?

Though they won't necessarily be available right away, as has happened in the past.

I misread the article...oops!

That brings up a new question though. What if I like the three available options? Can I pass on my elimination?

Leaving eliminations open feels like my choices mean more.
