Largest X-Wing Game Ever?

By Ambaryerno, in X-Wing Battle Reports

I was curious what the absolute largest SINGLE X-Wing game — in terms of number of ships on the board at one time with no point limit restriction — ever played was.

I'd thought it would be insane, but also fun as ****, to try running a game on a playing field large enough to have an in-scale Imperial Star Destroyer. Logistically impractical? Sure. But man that'd be a sight to see. Especially getting the Star Destroyer's full fighter complement (36 TIE/lns, 24 Interceptors, 12 bombers, and 5 Gunboats) into action at once.

We ran a pretty darn huge game at Dice Tower Con last year....

Heh, almost needed to bring a couple more tables together so you could make a wider board.

I did some calculations, and to fit an Imperial Star Destroyer at 1/270th scale would require a play area 20ft long if it was going to be a stationary object.

I recently did the math on the Supremacy. I may be wrong, but if my math holds up it'd be just over 1 and a half football fields.

Well, her wingspan is about 60km, which would scale to a hair over 735ft at 1/270. So that's 2.5 football fields wide.

No problem, just add a bit of flavour text to the scenario "the supremacy was destroyed by an A-wing that jumped to hyperspace while aimed at the bridge" and dump 50 rocks in a pile somewhere on the mat.

the poor empire RIP :(

We did a 1200 or (600/side) two years ago using four mats in a 2x2 configuration. Four huge ships and I think 24 small base ships. It was great! Time consuming but great!
