Official Base Sizes

By Undeadguy, in Star Wars: Legion

I plan to put them in coin protectors, it would be great to know the size I would need as to get a box before the game comes out.

How will you use the turn dial then??

Exactly as you would, though I may use the Death Star dial from the LCG.

I just want to put the Order Tokens in the Coin Protectors as to avoid them being accidentally marked or damaged through play.

Oh yes. It's likely that will fall under tournament regulations, and FFG is very strict with base size modifications because it alters range and movement.

I figured as much. There's just some really great third party sci-fi bases but they're all 25mm.

What legitimate reason would anyone have for knowing that?

Knowing or needing? As far as knowing, all the unboxers have and have shown the sheets. As far as needing, 3d printers making tidy cubes and trays for 1. Quite often to save space the just put a cresent shape in the side of the cube which will hold tokens similar to a money belt

Ugh I completely misread the question as meaning the turn counter (which wouldn’t be usable inside a cover).

Im surprised we havnt seen a pack with extra bases yet. I know that most people won't need extra bases but you never need one until you need one.. lol. There are not any 3rd party bases with firing arcs available (for now). Just seems odd that ffg has dice and range ruler pack without a pack for bases.. its all fun and games until you kids lose one of your bases and you have a trooper left flappin in the wind. Maybe we will get a few extras in the expansions too though.

I’m cutting my bases from clear acrylic.

Does any one have the size of the Order Token please?

For competitive play, you'll need the FFG marked bases. You won't be able to make your own or alter them. Obviously, if that's not what you're going to do, you can do whatever you want.

I don't think there is a 3rd party market for bases in Armada or X-Wing, so I don't see why there would be one for Legion.

Im just surprised ffg doesnt sell a bases pack. I suppose if you lost a base you could rely on ffg customer service, they are very helpful. However, extra bases should be available.

If you're gluing the mini to the bases, how are you going to lose them? My assumption is people will make the minis right away so they can play with them, which leaves very little time where the components are loose. And if you're pack doesn't come with enough bases, like you said, FFG will replace it.

The speeders and atrt aren't on the same base

Looks like the speeders got the 50 and atrt got the 70mm wih the big stuff on 100's

Is that confirmed?

no, but it's standard ffg competitive rules for everything else they have. You're allowed to alter the base to mini connection( to permit magnet mods) but the minis and bases must be ffg product.

That's not true. The tournament rules for games like Imperial Assault state you cannot alter the shape or size of the base, but you can most certainly change them for clear acrylic or whatever. My own IA miniatures are all rebased and I have had zero issues playing in Regional and National level events. I wouldn't think Legion will be any different.

The difference with Legion is that you have to measure line of sight from the top point of the minis. So while you may be able to find a base the same size as the FFG ones, the height may be off and give sleight advantage. Beyond this, you’d have to worry about the vehicle movement notches and firing arcs being precisely the same as the FFG bases. Whereas with IA you could effectively replace your minis with pogs and it not affect gameplay.

You could probably get away with having no base at all on the IA minis, or simply using cardboard chits. It's a grid based board and the minis are really only there to show which grid is occupied.
