Can we expect to see more rebel units revealed before launch, or will this game release with only 3 different rebel units? I worry that it will be difficult to attract new players in my area with such a limited variety of units at launch.

The indication so far is that Snowtroopers/Veers probably won't release alongside the core set.

They will come with Rebel counterparts whenever they do release.

I suspect there will be an announcement soon, for the Rebel equivalent to Veers and the Snowtroopers.

100% this. Also, both sides are launching with the same units. A Commander (in the Core Set only) the troopers, and the support vehicle, with the heavy vehicle expansion.

To start, unless you buy a core set, you won't have a Commander. Veers (and the assumed Rebel counterpart - likely Leia) won't be coming until later.

Seeing as the core set is "on the boat" and Veers/Snowtroopers are "at the printers"! If was a betting man, I would say your correct.

You could also say that Veers and the Snowtroopers missed the boat!!

As we get closer to launch I think you are going to see a lot of announcements. I would guess we will see a Leia commander, a second set of troopers for the Rebels, a second type/set of Support Units for both, and the introduction of Special Forces. If they are feeling cheeky, they could bring in non-aligned units such as Bounty Hunters that either army may field.

I'm curious as to what themes we will see. Will the next set finish the Hoth theme? Add more to Endor? Bring in Tatooine or perhaps?

As far as I'm aware, someone has already confirmed Leia as the next commander and since most depictions of Leia commanding anything are either on Hoth or in the sequels, the next rebel units are likely Echo Base Troopers.

In regards to spec-ops, I believe a developer confirmed scout troopers were the first Imperial spec-ops.

If that is correct, the rebel equivalent might be the rebel rangers/commandos as seen on Endor, considering they're both often portrayed as snipers.

That would be so awesome. I want droids of every type. Medical droids, k2so style droids, probe droids, astromech droids...
