Captain's Clinic - A growing guide for new players

By Irokenics, in Star Wars: Armada

We started a series at MOTF to help out new players getting into the game.

Our plan is to cover the ships and the other caveats and nuances of Armada in single short videos.

We'll be adding more to the playlist over time as we get to all the ships and other material to cover!

Ok. Is your audience new players or intermediate players?

Mainly players that haven't grasped the game fully yet.

This is good for experienced or semi experienced players also.

I have watched them and you guys are doing great work. Well thought out and very useful stuff. I’m an experienced player and after watching your blocking video the other day I used it to great success in a match yesterday. It was all stuff I knew but it just reminded me of the tactic. Thank you and I look forward to your next video.

Nice video, and a great idea for a series.

Your CR90B advice is objectively wrong.

But nice video. :)

I am a fan of the series of videos and will be glad to see more added to the list.

The propped-up upgrade cards is a fantastic way of presenting the information, btw. Great idea.

Secretly, its a method i came up with to substitute my lack of studio software beyond windows movie maker!

Ard what’s your favourite/best way to run CR90Bs? I think they’re quite a dependable workhorse / throw away ship with SW-7s but as a general rule if I can afford a TRC90 I’ll take it in lieu of a CR90B.

For me, 1 or 2 Cr90B's with engine techs and reinforced blast doors added into any non rieekan list. They add so much small ship/flotilla hunting utility.

Ard uses them as mass activation which are highly effective. Combos nicely with single dreadnought lists. DrAlexs Ackbar defiance with 4 naked cr90bs was amazingly effective.

Yup. I've run them in all of those roles--just did the Defiance/4*CR90B thing last night.

A and B fill pretty different roles, I think, and the TRC90 is certainly a little easier to just drop into a list and have it work, but the B has some niches too.

Hey. Do you want to try showing people the Taskforce format too? It tends to be simpler for new players, but lets you learn exactly how initiative and objectives work in this game. There's a nice PDF guide now too.

Have to honestly say we've never tried it but we can definitely put it on the books once we get through the schedule!

Thanks for putting these together! We have a lot of new players in out meta and this is super helpful to show them.

Heck, I'meven learning a trick here and there

Awesome stuff @Irokenics

They're very well made and are easy to follow!

Please keep making moar! :D

Added new clinics from Intel Officer Luke and Fulcrum Agent Nick for flying:

Also a shout out to all the new players sending us messages about how our clinic videos have helped them do well at their first tournaments! It really gives us the feels!

Can you do a video on the Quasar-Fire, the Victory SD or the good old Imperial SD?

We’re thinking that for the ISD it will probably need to be more than one video. So many options!

I forgot the Rebellion ships...

Which would be Hammer-Heads, Pelta and MC80.

And a new addition!

I liked the vsd one. I think they have some better options now with wave 7 and the great FAQ. Theoretically with the vsds you can either out activate or out squadron the big ships. Heavy ions, ordnance pods etc give them some more options too...

But they are still too many points to have die. And with their speed and lack of defences they will die i think.

Not if you can find an effective way to raise the number of your activations. I'm thinking about Raiders...
