Flavor of the Month.

I don't think Gunboats are that. Its a really good platform for the price, well the generics anyhow. I think they will stick around for a while.

@Stay On The Leader , that Glitterstim + Maul combo is sweet.

EDIT: Oh, Maul is great with Expert Handling too. The only thing I'll do differently is Guidance Chips!

That's why I think double/triple Deadeye Rho will become more popular.

It's officially what I'm calling it! Who doesn't love some Quick Poon?

You see I always see it as NuQD (nuked) because that's what it's going to do!

It's also a good counter to Black One title and Countermeasures.

As for chips... LRS+focus allows your ships to have a defensive focus if needed. Chips do not. If you have the full mods, it's slightly better than TL chips anyway (not enough to matter), as well.

I'm confused - the Nus have focus either way? Either because they have LRS from a previous turn, or Vader hit something with the thread tracers and now everyone has a TL. So it's TL+Focus+Chimps vs TL+Focus. One seems better than the other...

Doesn't mess with thread tracers at all, though.

I dunno, I can't hate on LRS, because it's free , but...that price is great for it, as it certainly doesn't really feel like it's worth anything.

It does feel like the most appropriately costed zero point upgrade.

while everyone was in here crying about harpoons, Nym Miranda focusing on bombs are storming regionals...

Keep those harpoon counters coming!

It's not like Harpoons are doing badly or anything, but I would still tech against Miranda first, probably.

Also Kanan.

Is this.... is this the official name for this list?

I call it Cocoa Spread ("Nu"-tella)

“nuq3d” is the winner! Pronounced “nuked”.

or “Thanks a lot, Chris”

Well, apparently I ran out of likes in the krayts thread, but

I agree.

Yea not sure my top list right now could beat it...

I can't arc dodge the gunboats since I have a 4 ship jousting list with only 1 ship able to reposition. Although I might be able to PS kill one before it fires.

Between defenders, spec forces, and now gunboats, imps by far are the best jousting faction in the game currently IMO.

I just can’t agree with this. Jousting lists are lists that can take you head on and take little damage in return. Old Commonwealth Defenders was definitely the best jousting list during its short life along with Dengaroo which didn’t actually have to joust but just did it anyway.

Rebels currently have the best tools for survinging jousts by mitigating damage while still dealing out a lot of their own.

Just because Quickdraw shoots you when she loses shields and therefore increases her damage output on that round doesn’t make her a jouster. She is fragile and wants no part of a head to head fight. Neither do Gunboats. Both of them want to come at you from multiple angles to mitigate the amount of guns pointing back at them.

Sometimes the joust favours you, and when it does you need to recognise that in setup,

Imperials are good at flanking IMO.

Pretty much this.

Also anyone heard of the abomination 3 wookkies? Especially if yu don't fly them in formation vs harpoons... wow, no other list has that much damage mitigation and sheer frustration.

...and this too.

Miranda and other Regen shenanigans are still broken, and is and will always shake back up to the top tables as it's simply a stupid mechanic, it's neither accurate cannon fluff or good game-play. The best recent example of this type of long-lasting, game-bending cancer was unlimited Biggs. Reinforce is its stupid cousin that also breaks both the boundaries of cannon and good game mechanics...what were they thinking?!?

Anyway, I type this light diatribe for the OP who has fears of dealing with Quickdraw and some Gunboats. Please don't worry too much, that list is solid and fun, but it dies when shot, and it gets shot easy. This squad cannot regen, cannot use turrets, cannot point-fortress and therefore can and will loose when your squad is well schemed and flown. Plus, look at the bright side: what everyone truly loves about this Star Wars fighter vs. fighter core game --80 degree arcs and harrowing piloting-- is being resuscitated by Gunboats and taken from death's doorstep (headed to the morgue) and wheeled back into Intensive care, so there is still hope to be had for our lovely game. But the darkness still looms; the boogieman is still the same; regen-ing, turret carrying, and thus game-bastardizing nonsense is still going to be the OP mechanics that mathematically make the top OP lists....until there is an errata....Gunboats can only reign it in a bit. But we all know, when it's raining hard, and you're gazing upon the landscape, if there is any s**t laying out there, it always floats to the surface.

I think a better name for the Quickdraw and 3x Nu squad Harpoon toting gunboats is

Quickdraw at HarpNu-oon

I'll see myself out :P

@Boom Owl It makes me happy to see you using the JAWA vassal map :)

A proper alpha strike with escort?

i never imagined the day would come when GUNBOAT would be THE meta defining ship. But FFG, you did us proud. The Empire is forever in your debt.

I'll agree the Gunboat is A meta defining ship, but they're not THE meta defining ship. That list starts with Miranda, then slides down a list that incorporates the Wookie, VCX, Shadowcaster, Dash, Poe and Dengar (even still post thirty nerfs) in some order with Gunboats somewhere in the bottom third....IMO.

But hey, the fact that the Empire finally got a solid filler ship that does real work is absolutely fantastic.
