Countering "Quick Poon"?
4 hours ago, Boom Owl said:Wild over simplification here....but basically its the spot on the board where all their arcs overlap.
Also called a "Kill box". Its where you auto-lose a ship without some other advantage to lean on.
If you put Poe there its your fault. The boats are PS2.
You can "sometimes" wrestle for control of their Danger Zone.
If they let you and you dont let them.
To be fair in the picture below Poe is "only" taking 2 harpoons, with Quickdraw out of Arc, and likely a boost to Black One a lock.
Against this list its "ok" to go near the danger zone but you never want to enter the danger zone completely.
The real danger zone in this picture is actually a bit further forward.
The Danger Zone is the spot on the board where your opponent can push out the most damage on a single target.
You have control over that spot to a certain extent by making good decisions on where you move your ships and how you limit their possible choices round to round.
Not just this round but also next round.

Got it. Basically focus firing.

I'm almost 50 with kids. Quick poon is what I'm lucky to get after the kids fall asleep and before me and the old lady fall asleep......or what I get when I run a Tie SF and 3 Nu's. HA!

I’ve already been calling it quickpoon. Guess if more than one person leads to the same place, that is what is should be known as.

"Quickdraw" + Veteran Instincts + Special Ops Training + Fire-Control System + Lightweight Frame.
Nu Squadron Pilot + Long-Range Scanners + Harpoon Missiles
Nu Squadron Pilot + Long-Range Scanners + Harpoon Missiles
Nu Squadron Pilot + Long-Range Scanners + Harpoon Missiles
Would you agree that the GunBoats are the early game threat? So, try to arc dodge Quickdraw and take out the gunboats unless a solid shield killing or out or arc shot comes up against Quickdraw?
Black One Title is great for nullifying Aplha lists. Can go Intensity Poe for 2 locks gone a turn.
If you really want to go all out there for anti Alpha... probably not very good, but just a thought.

I really think primed thrusters is better with bb8/intensity. Advanced optics doesn’t synergize as well since you’ll want to spend a token to flip it. Plus primed thrusters let’s you bb8 barrel roll when you’re stressed and lets you also boost after a t-roll and still get a focus.

Naw, that doesn't even make sense.

Quickdraw + Harpoons = quick poon. Also easy to remember. Obviously that's the list name.
"Thar she blows"
Since Quickdraw is most commonly referred to as female, and there are Harpoons involved.
Harpooning a whale.
Thar she blows.
I'll show myself out.
Does BB-8 really help you though? Or R2D2 better?

Poe has a couple of good builds, both competitive (I love seeing this in pilots)
If running intensity, then I suggest Bb-8+com Relay. This build allows a full token stack plus double black one clears.
If running anything else, I suggest R2D2+Adv Optics. This build has higher PS and a better ability to use K turns.

Can you go deep in depth at what you said here, because I'm not finding this to be true to what I know. Meaning: Please explain. Also third line, none of the previous words determines your PS at all... so...

2 Builds for Poe that I like.

CM/Lone Wolf Dash and Black One Poe ... both can reposition, range control and shed target locks.
Kill QD first, then another Gunboat ... then as long as Dash is alive at that point, you win as he runs rings around the remaining boats.
My current version ...
Dash Rendar (36)
Lone Wolf (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Rey (2)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
Countermeasures (3)
Outrider (5)
Poe Dameron (PS9) (33)
Veteran Instincts (1)
R2-D2 (4)
Advanced Optics (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)
Total: 98

My counter to this list is the same as my general counter to the current missile spam going around in (almost) all its forms.
I have a CM Lone Wolf Dash with scavenger crane to recoup the CM, and The ps11 Black One regen Poe. Poe sheds locks easy enough, and if you use range and arc control you can mitigate the damages done to you. Assuming you fly better than your opponent.
Really any list that makes a mistake and goes directly into the fray with harpoon spam (or HLc gunboats either) just lost the game, barring some insane dice variance.

How do you have Scavenger crane on Dash?

Smuggling compartment, mod slot 0 points. YT1300/2400 only
gain illicit slot. You may add a 2nd mod of 3 points or less.
If you're relying on just a countermeasures or black one title to save you from 3bQD... you're going to be REALLY sad.
Like... the real answer is to range control and/or arc dodge...

Or lots of green dice mods.

From what I've seen. Countermeasures/B1 isn't what saves these lists from the Harpoons, but they do give quite a few extra positions where range control and arc dodging are effective.

Not just. But they do work wonders when you can’t get out of all the arcs so you can drop the lock for the one with range.

Oh, I don't want to sound like they're
bad
, but they aren't a silver bullet.
Like as you just noted - they allow more positions it's "okay" to be sometimes as well. And if you are bringing Poe, there's no reason
not
to bring black one. Just don't bring Blake one Poe
because
of harpoons, if you weren't already planning to use him, for example.
