Road to Legent questions

By Nani23, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello everybody.

My questions are about dungeons.

When the heroes reach an unexplored dungeon they must explore it or the can pass it and move to the next trail next week?

When overlord draw dungeon level card they are shuffled or he goes from 1(collapsed collums) to 40(shreds of night)?

The heroes have the option to enter the dungeon or to continue their journey.

The dungeon level card is drawn randomly.

And if you have Tomb of Ice and Sea of Blood, you can go from 1 to 80-something (can't remember the exact number off hand). Randomly, of course :)

And don't forget the heroes get 1CP for just moving on to a new dungeon location. They do not have to enter the dungeon to have "explored" that location (i.e. receive that 1CP).

They receive 1 CP only if they explore the dungeon

No, ending the movement on an unexplored location already yields 1 CP - see rulebook (at least the English one).

Yeah my copy is english too...

But the rules states :

Upon arrival, if the party has not entered this location
before, the heroes each receive one conquest token as a
reward for exploration .

So my english tells me that you need to explore it in order to get that CP

Wrong. See RtL Rules, page 10:

If the heroes end their movement in a dungeon area, they receive one conquest token if they’ve never been to that area before. They may then may enter the dungeon according to the rules under “Dungeons” on page 17.

They only have to end their movement at the dungeon to get the CP.

It's a confusing term "explore" since it's easy to think that means actually going into the dungeon. But it doesn't. All it means is that as long as this is the first time the party has moved to that location, then they receive 1CP. It's kind of an offset for the 1CP the OL gets every week. But either way, the party does NOT have to go into the dungeon to get that 1CP, they just have to move to that location.

I didn't realize though that it only happens if they end their movement. I don't think it's come up yet in our game, but I'll make sure I remember that :)

No it says you get it only if you never been there. Next time you pass there you get nothing.

That's pretty stupid, you need to keep track in addition where have you been and not explored ?

I have another question to throw in here. I'm probably missing something obvious, but does the table regarding spending two threat to move a figure one extra space/add another power die apply to Dungeons as well as outdoor encounters? I believe it does, but when I did it in the last dungeon I completely reamed the heroes with it. Thanks for the clarification.

No those rules applies only in encounters, in dungeon threat is used only for OL cards.

That's just simple bookkeeping. On the campaign sheet I mark an 'X' next to a dungeon if the heroes have "found" the dungeon and received the CP for it. Then if they enter the dungeon I color in one quadrant for each level and color in the entire box once the heroes exit the dungeon.

Nice touch - I like that. Thanks for the idea. I was just putting a slash in the box if they'd received the CP, then cross it when they complete.

When an encounter with a lieutenant ends does the lieutenant restores to full wounds or not?

And when we procced to the next level of dungeons the overlord re-shuffle hiw deck and flip-on the spawn eyes?

1. Yes, the next time the Lt is encountered, he'll be at full health.

2. No and Yes. The Overlord does not reshuffle his deck, but the eyes do flip back to showing visible. The FAQ talks about the first one specifically. Just think of one whole dungeon as one Quest from vanilla descent, i.e. the OL is drawing cards, spawning, fighting, etc. Picture each dungeon level as a new "area".
