Critical injury, healing.

By Siuolis, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the effect of a critical injury (unless it's permanent), or is the effect removed(unless it'spermanent) when the critical injury is healed?

Thanks:)

It depends on the crit. Some effects last for a round, some last until the end of the encounter and some last until said crit is healed. It usually says on the crit for how long it lasts. The effect of adding +10 to any subsequent crits per crit you have suffered lasts until they're healed though.

Some (like losing a limb) last until forever. Though in some setting limbs and such can be replaced.

There are a few ways to ignore the effects of crits (Heroic Fortitude, Mental Fortress, Steely Nerves, Nullicaine,...), but the only way to properly get rid of ongoing effects of crits is to heal them.

So if I had the ' bleeding out effect ' or ' the end is nigh ' and they were healed would the effects be removed?

So in the case of ' the end is nigh ' if it was successfully healed, I would not die during the end of the next round?

The rules are pretty vague regarding that issue, but from how I understand it, the effects of those crits stop once they're treated with a Medicine check, while the crit itself (and the +10 critical roll modifier) stays on the character until a week of narrative time has passed.
Another way to deal with those two (and even with the "Death" crit") is to apply a Cerebral Stabilizer.

Also how would mastery heal work?( spend 4 force point to resuscitate one target who died since the end of the force user's last turn. Remove the crit or effect that killed him)

thanks:)

I don't know if this is correct, on page 226 and 227 it says Crits can be healed with rest(like you said) but also med checks, bacta tanks and I guess heal with control( make a heal power check and hard med check, if check succeeds and heals wounds also heal one crit).

  • Character with the Heal power ends their turn.
  • During play between that character's turns, an allied character dies (via the "Death" or "The End is Nigh" crit, house rules regarding suffering a certain amount of wounds beyond their wound threshold, or other shenanigans).
  • It's the healing character's next turn. They attempt a Heal Force power check targeting the dead character. If they roll at least 4 Force points, they can spend them to remove the crit which killed the ally and restore them to life, but with their previous wound total and any crit apart from the healed one still on them.

Yes, all of this is correct, however: Healing crits by resting requires a week and a successful Resilience check, so healing "Bleeding Out" or "The End is Nigh" by resting is... not the best idea.

That would be Dangerous Covenants, p.57. Happy to help!
