Like I said I am around in the summers in Cape Breton but have no problem traveling.

Following for future interest. :)

We had our first official Armada Day event this Sunday afternoon. It was a good turnout, with all 5 people scheduled to come out dropping by. One of our members unfortunately was only able to get there quite late due to work but he stopped in and checked things out. The remaining 4 of us had 2 good games each, with some tense moments, last second Luke Skywalker heroics killing a Liberty by drawing a Structural Damage, a devastating series of one-shot salvos from a Raider and a VSD, as well as dominating Rebel bombers smashing a pretty terrible Konstantine list of mine.

We will be hosting regular events every other week, will get a Corellian Conflict campaign going, and ultimately aim to get Game Night Kits and Store Champs rolling again here in Halifax. If you are ever in the area and want to play some Armada, just let us know!

Sounds like a great day. Did you end up playing full point games or fleet patrol format?

These were 400 point battles. We are definitely going to do some Task Force (Fleet Patrol?) events in the future too. They seem like great ways for people to smash a bunch of games in and get to practice with specific ship combos or basic ideas for fleets.

The next Armada Day event is scheduled for January 21st at the Board Room Cafe in Bedford! Pew pew!

Reminder that tomorrow, 1pm at the Board Room Bedford, we are meeting up for some good matches. Please come join us! Thanks for reading!

We had a good turnout and a great event! Was fun to pew pew mini spaceships as always. The Empire carried the day, clearing out the Rebel scum while securing peace and order. Stay tuned for our next meetup on Feb 4th, we are going to play some Task Force format!

This Sunday, Feb 4th, is Task Force format day! I know there is some competition with the Super Bowl, but we should be done well before it even gets close to starting! (I don't watch football anyways) Come on out and try some quick and dirty Task Force games!

Task Force day was good fun, though our numbers were low. We unwittingly pitted that Armada Day against the Super Bowl and lost that match 7-3 MOV. That said a few newcomers to the group introduced themselves while at the same venue for different reasons and we hope to see them at future events!

Task Force is much more challenging than at first glance. List building is quite tricky, but flying them was also a somewhat new experience. The tighter map caused me to totally flub my maneuvering in the first match, and I unceremoniously flew Demolisher, admiral and all, off the board to finish the match. I was getting murdered regardless however!

The second match I vowed to not fly off again and swapped to my Rebel list of dual assault frigates. This time I scored a total victory but nearly (within half an inch or a centimeter or two) flew both frigates off. A timely use of Skilled First Officers got me that Nav command I needed and saved the day.

We will definitely try some more Task Force in the future. For now we are back to 400 points! Our next Armada Day is scheduled for Feb 18th, and as usual at the Board Room in Bedford. See you then!

Good to hear that more people are getting interested! Hopefully the weather is better next weekend and i can make it up. I'm dying to fly some wave 7.

I am told there is a pretty active group in Fredericton, and there is also some Armada going on in Moncton. There is a Facebook group for the Moncton scene which I will PM to you. They will likely know a lot more about the situation in NB!

Welcome to the group! Yes BigLev is correct about Fredericton. Check out gamezilla if you are ever in the area. I was there over the weekend and there is a large community and a decent selection of expansions on hand. Bit of a drive for you obviously but if you are ever there it's totally worth a visit

Awesome. Thanks.

Armada Day on Feb 18th was a great success! Everybody got a couple matches in and we tried out a lot of the new wave. We had a Raddus v Raddus fight, Thrawn, Tarkin using Chimaera, and Profundity everywhere. I discovered the first Rebel list I enjoy playing as much as Motti ISDs (Ackbar MC80, MC75, 2 flotillas, 5 Z-95s and Blount). The Z-95s were a glorious mixture of disappointment and overwhelming firepower!

Exciting, what do you think about the format? How did the other players like it?

How do you feel about it balance wise?

Yes, table space is certainly something you have to watch out for.

(If you want to keep this thread on topic, we could talk about it in the Taskforce thread too)

I enjoyed the format, though I also found I kept finding interactions at 200 points that I wanted to flesh out to the full 400. The real tricky part I found about list building was how you have to change your considerations and valuations. Even though it should ostensibly be the same as 400 point games, I found it was much easier to build an effective no squadron list and harder to build an effective squadron list.

This may entirely be my own limitations at work. It seems however that when it comes to the overarching strategy to the lists you really have to commit to your archetype or design intent. There are not enough points to make a more generalist type of fleet come together.

I also think that if you played only Task Force with a group of people for a while, you may see a meta evolve that is more accepting of edge case inclusions. But without a meta I found it mor difficult to build a diverse generalist fleet so I tended to go very far into the main concept or strategy.

I don't think it was any more or less balanced than regular points. It definitely does change the valuation of admirals and certain upgrades, but I am uncertain to the full ramifications be they positive or negative. More than anything it was the board size I found to be challenging.

I need to play more to have a considered opinion about the board size, but my first reaction was that it made it difficult to escape front arc ships as a broadsider, especially if you are running something sluggish like Home One. You can't use the width of the table to lure enemies into your firing zone but instead have to slash towards them or run the risk of fleeing from the battle zone.

I may have more to add but I have to get back to work now!

Armada Day March 4th was great fun! We had most of our regulars out, sporting a heavy Imperial contingent. Two of the lists were specifically dual Cymoon ISDs, and they came away crushing all in their path. I tried a Rebel bomber list for the first time. Got crushed first game, learned a lot, managed to squeak out the barest of victories second round. I will have to rebuild the list a bit with what I have learned but it was a very fun experience and quite different than my usual lists. Thanks to everybody who came out!

We are going to have our next Armada Day on March 11th, 1pm at the Board Room in Bedford. We are switching up so that another local player can make it to our events; everybody was in favour of the change. It actually makes me want to bump up the regularity to every weekend!

I can't make today, I'm about to fly out to Toronto but let me know how it goes!

Will do, have a good journey!

How was the last game day? I'm still in Toronto just heading back today. Are we meeting up next week for some games? I haven't seen any posts lately so let me know what the plan is!

It was a pretty good event, just three of us though. I got trounced by an objectives based Sloane squadron list, and beat up an Imperial brawler mix while using a Raddus MC-75 and MC-30 combo.

We do have an event coming up next Sunday, March 25th. Board Room Bedford at 1pm as per the usual. I am hoping we will get some news about the Season kits soon, maybe even by then. Not much else going on at the moment otherwise, people seem to be pretty busy with trips and vacations.
