First Order Mayhem

By Ronu, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So just messing around this seemed interesting.

Quickdraw, Ruthlessness, Title, AO, FCS, LWF

Omega Leader, Juke, CR

Epsilon Ace, AO

Epsilon Squadron, HWCS

idea is a little of pick the poison, Ace can Ace hunt, QD is just scary with his Ruthlessness dealing extra damage so forcing decisions on formation flying. Leader does OL things and the Epsilon is blocker harasser.

Haven't thought of Ruthlessness on QD before. That's some nice extra damage if he hits twice.

Looks like fun but be careful with Ruthlessness in a 4 ship list. You don't want to have to deal extra damage to your own ships, especially when these guys are all pretty fragile.

Other than that just try it out. I'd only be unsure about the performance of the Epsilons. If you don't like them maybe you could sub something else in there but otherwise looks fun.

Epsilon Ace is awesome, especially with Advanced Optics. The generic Epsilon I'm less convinced by, but it does give you a nice asset - a high PS deployment, low PS movement blocker, and Omega Leader and Epsilon Ace starting with their tech slots 'charged' in case of stuff like Dormitz, Han Solo, and high-speed Gunboat attacks.

It's surprisingly good on a second ship in support of Quickdraw, actually - being able to 'zap' Quickdraw if you have no enemy at range 1 of your target and then get a free range 1 shot turns the downside of the ability into a benefit.

I'd be hesitant about it in a TIE/fo swarm, though - the little eyepatches tend to need to be at range 1 to do reliable damage themselves, so you're likely to be hitting yourself more often than you'd like.

Had an idea for using a Tractor Beam Defender to line up the Ruthlessness shots better for QD and then reducing the agility of the target as well to get more hits to stick. Unfortunately nothing extra to trigger Maarek's ability but needed someone up at 9 to shoot before QD and Rexler is a little expensive.

TIE Defender: •Maarek Stele (37)

TIE/D (0)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Tractor Beam (1)

TIE/SF Fighter: •"Quickdraw" (36)

Lightweight Frame (2)

Special Ops Training (0)

Ruthlessness (3)

Fire-Control System (2)

TIE/FO Fighter: •"Omega Leader" (26)

Juke (2)

Comm Relay (3)

Total: 99/100

I like the pilot combinations, and the builds for Omega and Epsilon SP (though he could perhaps be substituted for a more potent TIE).

I am always afraid to run Ruthlessness, in case of a massive backfire - I think QD excels best with VI or (even better, Expertise). I also think that AO is underwhelming on him. Pattern Analyzer can be VERY effective, guaranteeing a focus even after a red.

As for Epsilon Ace, I also like PA on them.
