Looking to play in Buffalo, NY

By TastyGrapes, in Star Wars: Armada

Not sure if this type of post is welcome here. I came from /r/StarWarsArmada, they said that people check this more often than over there.

Just like the title says, I'm looking for the elusive Buffalo Armada player base. I bought the core set a couple months ago and have since gotten every imperial expansion. I'm tired of building fleets and just staring at the models, I want to play! I'm unclear on some elements of the game and would love to learn to play properly.

Thanks for your time, admirals

@Madaghmire , do you know anybody who plays up in the frigid wildlands?

I'm part of the Buffalo Armada group, a group of about 5 regulars, and 2-3 part-timers.

Are you "Tall Brian" on Facebook? I just accepted a reuest to join our Fb group:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1186218608066691/

Join that if you haven't already. We don't have a set play day, but usually get together for local tourneys, impromptu games, and we play more often when new waves arrive.

I can run a game for you, I have another friend that hasn't played and is interested in playing. This weekend is not good, I'm totally booked. :(

Yeah, that's me. Thanks for adding me. I'd love to play whenever you guys get together.

I dont. I’m down in NYC. Buffalo is extremely far away. NY is a larger state than a lot of people realize, and we’re on opposite ends.

What do you mean run a game? Like moderate?

“Larger State”

(I acknowledge it’s not just about distance, in this case, it’s also a lot of crap in the way that makes travel tedious ? )

People think that the Statue of Liberty and Niagara Falls are right next to each other, too- just like on the license plate. I mean, if you're willing to make the 6 hour trip, we could play... :P

Pffft 6 hours is not much. That will only get you half way through texas

Well both of you drive half-way and we'll hold a tournament in the southern tier. ;)

I'm part of the buffalo group but I live on the west side of Rochester. thraug almost always has a hand in getting games together round here. hopefully Dave and Adams will get a regional too.

Yes. I would moderate for you and another new player.

I have a couple friends here in the city who are interested in learning, we've played a couple casual games. I can see if one of them would be up for a more tournament-style game. My goal is to become a competitive player.

Hey, I resent that- I grew up in the middle of that 'tedious' zone! NYS is the most beautiful state in the nation, you heard it here first.

Hardly saying much. :D

Yes, but to me, that’s not saying much :)

I grew up in a place that was known at the time as “the garden state.”

it is also the second smallest state in the country, and still significantly larger than most US states ?

So yes. I have unique perspectives, but understand as well - without malice - that because of my history, I view distances very differently to most... I mean, my nearest city was 5 hours one way before they upgraded the highway (and made it a mere 4.5)

Garden States always suck.

Don’t you live on an Island we could fit into our state?

Bring them. I'll run as many games as needed, filling in as a player if needed.

Hey, messaged you on Facebook too. We still playing today or should we try another time?

Another time. I didn't see any replies to my query about when we're playing so I made plans. For the better, I had several house issues come up that needed attention. Grrr

What other days and times are good for you and your friend in the next week or so?

New to it, but I’m down to play.

We have some players in the Capital region if you guys ever decide you want to me halfway (ish).
