Doom linked Question

By Felin, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

1/ Does damage from Deep Wounds (Skirmisher) is on a separate instance from the attack or in the same ?
.. I think it's the same but want some confirmation ?

2/ Does each damage of the Affliction (Hexer) is a separate instance or it's the same instance during all mouvement
in short : at the end does an hexed monster mouving 2 spaces suffers 6 damages (3x2) or only 4 (3+1)

In the first case, it is definitely the same source (ie the attack). Deep wounds only increase the amount of damage by one, similar to the Shadow Soul.

In the second case, I believe it is considered a single source of damage. The keyword there is 'additional' suggesting that it is still considered the same source as the initial damage.

I actually think that Deep Wounds causes a separate instance of suffering damage. First, it triggers after the attack has been resolved. This is after everything is set and done. Second, there has been an uFAQ stating that in multiple target attacks that deal damage to multiple monsters only one of those monsters is affected by Deep Wounds. This indicates that Deep Wounds does not modify the attack as such, otherwise all monsters would be taking the additional damage.

Affliction does indeed cause multiple instances of suffering damage.

@Sadgit

Hmm, well looking at Shadow Soul;

"Each time a monster in a space adjacent or containing a Shadow Soul suffers Heart from an attack, it suffers 1 additional Heart ."

It seems to have (nearly) identical wording to Deep Wounds;

"Exhaust this card when you resolve an attack that dealt at least one (heart) to a monster. That monster suffers 1 additional (heart) and is Bleeding."

I was 90% sure there was a uFAQ entry regarding Shadow Soul stating it was considered the same source of damage and did not trigger 'doomed' separately. (nor does it modify the damage total of the attack as a whole, only the damage received).

edit: You are correct in that there is a difference in the trigger condition (after attack is resolved vs damage suffered), but I sort of take that to be just a difference in wording, as Deep Wounds specifically says 'after the attack is resolved', but then also makes a point to say 'after defense dice are rolled', which would seem redundant, unless they were still talking about resolving the die rolls, before suffering damage.

editv2: Also, the wording on Deep wounds is 'WHEN you resolve an attack, not AFTER an attack is resolved', which to me suggests its still part of the same attack.

If I can find the shadow soul source I will link it.

Yes, Shadow Soul has been confirmed to trigger before the attack is resolved and does not create another instance of suffering damage.
My interpretation of "when you resolve an attack" in Deep Wounds is "immediately after you resolve an attack". But I have been wrong before.

The word "additional" implies a single source of damage, but the timing "when you resolve..." seems to indicate a second event. I've always thought of deep wounds as part of the attack damage, but haven't ever needed to examine it closely.

hum, hum ... seems not as easy as I thought ! :-)

Sadgit are you sure for Affliction ?

Yep. Otherwise one single instance of suffering could be spread across the whole monster turn, whenever the OL chooses to spend a movement point. To define this as a single instance of suffering damage will not happen.

Question about Deep Wounds send to FFG... will post answer when I have it
