New Falcon? *possible spoiler* ?

By patox, in X-Wing

i think this film is set way to early for that. Han looks to be in his 20's, and he was in his 30's in ANH, so we're looking at 10BBY at least. the dialog in the jabba scene in ANH:SE makes it sound like the spice dump was only a few jobs before he took on obiwan, Luke, and the droids as passengers in 0BBY.. 1BBY at the most for that.

more likely the module will play a role in the heist this film will focus on. possibly carrying specialty equipment, or something.

Fair.

This was on Reddit. Is it fake news? Is it the new news about the old Falcon? Is this Wave 15?

Legit! You called it and I bet this will come in another wave....along with that other TIE variant from Solo.

New TIE for Imps, likely new Falcon for Scum...throw in a Resistance A-Wing for Rebels, and we have ourself a wave.

I will say it looks more like a $tar War$ product than a Star Wars product. Now again some people might ask do we want to preserve the story or the setting. There are things that should be changed as the story moves on. I don't mind new Star Destroyers or New TIE Fighters or even New X-wings (still the E-wing would have been nice though). But I understand why they just made new X-wing TIE-Fighters and AT-ATs. Those are Iconic ships and you know they are Star Wars. IT is the same reason we saw the ARC-170 in Revenge of the Sith and not the Z-95 Headhunter.

However changing something as iconic as the Millennium Falcon seems to go against everything I just mentioned above. Now of course we all know YT freighters are hugely customizable, however the Falcon's customization is a staple of the ship. a YT-1300 can look like many different things, but the Millennium Falcon this is more than just a dish change (and that had backstory to back it up).

#notmyfalcon

Just gonna put this out there, the New Falcon is actually a prototype with an advanced hyperdrive ( bounty hunters / smugglers love stealing prototypes ). Front end get's damaged, retro fit to make it look like a YT-1300 ?

I like that theory. The Falcon is in fact not a YT-1300 but a 1400 or whatever ;-)

Not quite, all the movie tie-in waves were larger, with the new ships added as extras.

True. But considering we have quite a variety of threads speculating as to what all of wave 14 will be, I figured here, I'd keep it simple.

That would explain how Han got his hands on a .5 hyperdrive when most can barely dream of getting a 2.0 hyperdrive.

I wonder if hyperdrive speeds even matter in the new canon, considering that as per TLJ it takes 5 hours to cross the entire galaxy in a **** makeshift shuttle pod. What is Han getting out of that 0.5 class, 10 minutes saved per delievery?

You guys know Hyperspace is always, always , without exception, the speed of the plot, right?

I thought that was the speed of the turbo lift on the Entetprise. Oh wait, that’s the speed on the dialogue, my bad.

Sure, but given no accurate timeframe in any of the movies, we could stretch it to fit various theories.

Now we have a figure, so no more of that, and for some reason the canon wipe didn't erase the hyperdrive class thing. The reason is most likely that nobody thought about it and just copied old rulebooks, but it doesn't hurt to theorize :)

We've seen the same models re-released with new paint jobs before in veterans/aces packs and packaged with epic ships but have we seen any model be sold to us a third time? Well, maybe Sabine's TIE qualifies now that I think about it...

So I guess it's possible for a new M. Falcon to be coming to shelves near you this May. If it was a new sculpt (no missing panels, blaster damage, etc.) and distinct paint job, I'm afraid that I would have to have it.

  1. Red Core-Set
  2. TIE-Fighter Expansion
  3. Imperial Assault Carrier Expansion Pack
  4. Sabine's TIE Expansion

I am just waiting for #5 to make swarms great again. Looking forward to a title to give their 2 dice attacks the autoblaster ability, hopefully on more than just range 1 ^_^

I think the nose thing is either an add on/module/modification Lando strapped to it. Maybe something more passenger or luxury related. When Han got the Falcon, I could see him getting rid of extra weight, and this nose job may just be that to him.

Bingo. But it is very prudent to note that this Falcon and Han's are way, way more different than just that.

Operating with the Greater Laws of Space Opera, not the cumbersome laws of physics.

By the way THIS is the OLDER Falcon we get to see.

The hack newbie shows up in A New Hope .

True, that’s just the most prominent difference between the two.

It's definitely a completely different front end from the classic appearance of the Falcon. It tapers to a point then has the flat front. It's almost certainly not some kind of modular pod.

My guess is still the same one I've always had: That if this is the Falcon, it will get damaged or modified at some point, and the iconic front end will be the new version. One might even be so bold as to guess that the modification will factor into the third act of the film and that shape will be meaningful. Because Disney seems like they'd love nothing more than a "See? That's why it looks like that" origin story for a space ship, lol.

I Signed up just to say this its a extension cargo piece just because the manual quoted above doesn't show this part doesn't mean they aren't more add on for the ship.

Help that shows more clearly how the falcon in the originals has a more flat stumpy nose

Also this ship is very old it predates Han and Lando as it appears in the revenge of the sith. so you can imagine its gone through many different owners and i would imagine Lando being the high roller he is would have restored it and made it more luxury on inside before Han strips it to make it faster.

so i don't think it got damaged or hugely modified to get the front we know simply Han disconnects it to make it faster.

It's confirmed to be an escape pod now.

Well, okay. I can live with that.

It looks like someone photoshoped the front of a star destroyer to a falcon...

I am normally a purist about this kind of thing but i gotta say, i am 100% here for that factory fresh YT look. It's recognizable but still new and in a way that is believable (to me), compared to say the ST2009 enterprise. I would happily buy it for xwing (unless it's a scum faction in which case i'd have to really consider finally b uying into that group i guess).
