New Falcon? *possible spoiler* ?

By patox, in X-Wing

counter point though. a majorly changed Falcon in Solo would require a new (equally expensive) Falcon mockup for filming. why bother with that though, if they can use the existing one, and just stick a different dish on the one they have?

my guess is that if there are changes, they'll be mostly internal.. a new cockpit interior (closer to the ANH look) set, some modifications to the 'hallways and rooms' set, etc.

this would maximize their ability to use existing expensive mockups, and thus free up budget for any wholly new ships they need to build exterior mockups for.

We've seen the same models re-released with new paint jobs before in veterans/aces packs and packaged with epic ships but have we seen any model be sold to us a third time? Well, maybe Sabine's TIE qualifies now that I think about it...

So I guess it's possible for a new M. Falcon to be coming to shelves near you this May. If it was a new sculpt (no missing panels, blaster damage, etc.) and distinct paint job, I'm afraid that I would have to have it.

Both X-Wings and TIE fighters have been sold to us three times.

TIE Fighter 5 times, if you lump the TIE/fo minor re-sculpt in. (since the Falcon was minorly re-sculpted for the 2nd time, i'd say it would count)

and the T-70 has three (main box, standalone, HOTR)

In my head, because it's different ships, I wouldn't count the /fo as part of the standard TIE number, but from purely a model standpoint, your example with the Falcon does make sense.

Good eye on the t-70. It didn't cross my mind.

Disney isn't lazy like that. They created several new kinds of vehicles for Rogue One, and it might be a long time before any of those appear on the big screen again. So it's pretty clear that creating a new version of the Falcon wouldn't be prohibitively expensive, and I'm sure that millions of little Star Wars fans would be eager to get their own new Falcon toy for their birthday this year.

They're definitely not lazy in terms of set production, but if they could stop just vomiting out McQuarrie concept pieces fully realized I'd really appreciate that.

This is not the ship we are looking for. You can go about your business. Move along.

Really the only reason for yet another falcon is to make it a mobile arc like they should have done in heroes

Then it would step on the Lancers toes instead of the jm5k, and probably still be inferior

In terms of rules, it would fill another role in scum: A big ship with two Crew upgrades and 360ยบ or mobile arc. Now Scum has only the Hound to make synergies between its crew, or having a place for Jabba.

I think the stolen ship of DJ can be also a good candidate to fit in the type of ships with two crew (Also, it remembers me slightly to the U Wing)

DJ's ship is longer and wider than the ghost and unarmed. It's Epic, at best, but probably not x-wing at all.

Now there's a low-res image of what appears to be a Lego set of the new blue "Kessel Run Millennium Falcon" over on the XMG subreddit. No way to tell if it's authentic, but it looks like a lot of work for it to just be a hoax.

What this man said. Seems the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon is a thing.

If we see a third Falcon for X-Wing it will be the spearhead ship for a fourth faction (Smugglers & Scoundrels). The intro expansion will contain the new Falcon plus components to use the original Falcon as well as the YT-2400 and probably a couple of small ships from the current Rebel and Scum lineups.

Good point, or a sub-faction to Scum & Villaney, just as "The First Order" and "Resistance" are subfactions to the Empire and Rebels.

Okay, they didn't do alternate X-wings in Rogue One, Why would they do anything but the Original Falcon in the Han Solo movie?

Really think about this. This is set a good amount of time before the original film.

Rogue One was set practically minutes beforehand.

Yet. They will sooner or later.

I hope they don't change the nose length, just add that fill inside the pincers. Maybe it's an attached module of some sort?

It helps tell a story -- the appearance of the ship tells us a lot about its owners and the passage of time -- and it will sell a lot of toys.

As a Legends fan I can only say:

Nothing new ;)

And I'd be glad if it got confirmed that the YT-1300 is still as modular in Disney Canon as it is in Legends Canon.

@RogueLeader42 Where is that image/page from? Looks like a book I'd want in my collection.

Also: Single laser canon and oval radar dish?
