Charge or not charge :>

By Reanimated Guy, in Runewars Rules Questions

Hi! Yesterday playing a game the following situation occurred, during a charge the trays did not come into contact and we had something similar to what is seen in the image, but without touching.
Is the charge valid? If the tabs of the trays are not in contact but are almost in contact with the other tray would it be valid?

Thanks!!!

If there is no contact, then the charge failed and the Reanimates would get a panic token.

I've had games where people said, "That's close enough; I'll give you that charge," but that's really up to your opponent because technically @Aetheriac is correct: no contact = failed charge.

Same here. It depends on how "friendly" the game is. In Tournament play, for sure failed charge.

Also the tabs don't count as a contact part of the tray. The movement tool should touch the tray in order to get a charge.

Source? Side tabs don't count when moving past terrain, but tabs count for range, and as far as I know contact in general. Corner to corner, separated by tabs is not engaged, despite having been a minute ago when you choose not to close in.

The check for collision (section 18) is 'is it touching' not 'is it touching without tabs'

I stand corrected, not the most thorough reader

We had a match that came down to a very close charge or near-miss. We really couldn't tell what to call it. We decided to play as if it did and as if it didn't. I won if it did and lost if it didn't. Sort of a 'choose your own ending' scenario

Sounds like a great use of flipping a coin! :)

Nah. Base it on how many natural runes are showing.
