I'm trying to finish a custom deck to have printed through Artscow. I have some variant cards for Pandemic and Last Night on Earth that comprise 38 cards, and then another 6 custom cards that I threw in there but which I might replace if something better comes along. So that leaves between 10 and 16 cards that I need (or less than 10 is fine, too... I can always find something else to throw in). I figure with all of the custom stuff that people do for AH, and the relative ease with which you can integrate variant elements, that there's got to be something I can use, either game related or maybe something that could be useful in terms of organization or randomization or whatever.
The restriction is that these will all have the Pandemic Player Card backs to them, which isn't a big deal, but they can't be something that would need to fit with an existing deck. And these are standard playing card size, which wouldn't work with any of the existing AH cards, anyway. So regardless, this has to be something more or less standalone. I've poked around the forums here a bit and found some nice custom things, but mostly they are investigators or expansions that require a whole set of cards, or items that wouldn't match the card size. So I'm wondering if any of y'all either know of some existing 1-16 card AH variant that would be worth having cards for, or if you might have suggestions for what could be created.
Off the top of my head, here are some possible ideas...
10 cards: Terror Track cards. Maybe there's some kind of special thing that happens at each level of the Terror Track. Of course, the stores already close at 3, 6 and 9, but perhaps there could be some kind of "mission" involved with each new level, so for example, with the Terror Track at 0, you see that on the Terror Level 1 card it says something like: "If the Terror Level reaches 1, you must discard 3 Clue Tokens or add a Doom Token to the Ancient One's Doom Track." And then the next card says what will happen if it reaches Level 2, etc. And perhaps to offset the additional difficulty/penalty added by that, the conditions for 3, 6 and 9 could be that if you (do something), the stores don't close after all. I think paying some amount of money to hire security would be a good thematic fit for that. But anyway, you get the idea... In most games, the Terror Track doesn't rise much, though, so these might not come into play that often, but they might add a little flavor now and then, at least.
16 cards: New cards for the base game Investigators. There are 16 investigators that came with the base game, so perhaps there could be some additional "personal story" type of thing specific to each one. Or maybe a custom Mission/Task for each one, or custom Skills for each one? I wish I knew more about how the new Relationship Cards are going to work with the Lurker expansion, because I might have taken a stab at making some of those to mess around with in the meantime until that's released.
10-16 cards: Street Encounters. When you end your move in a street location, you draw one of these cards. I'm thinking that each card could be structured like Other World cards, with two specific locations and then an "Other", so for example, "Southside, Miskatonic University, Other". If you're in one of the specific places and draw that card, you follow that encounter, which might involve moving into one of that neighborhood's locations. Otherwise, you have the "Other" encounter.
12-16 cards: Other World cards.
There are 12 Other Worlds, so I don't know... something specific for each of them? Can an Other World have its own Personal Story??
Or perhaps it would be better to focus on just the base game Other Worlds (8) and have 2 cards for each, one for each side of the Other World. I always thought it was a little bland that when you go to the Other Worlds, they're essentially just more encounters like the ones you have in Arkham. Okay sure, the text and content of them is sometimes a little bit different... But still, I think it might be nice if there's something more functionally different about what happens in the Other Worlds, and some custom cards might be able to do that. I have no idea how, but I'm happy to do the rolling and let someone else do the details.
14 cards: Doom Track cards. Each time a doom token is added, a card is drawn that adds some kind of effect/challenge/bonus/penalty.
10-16 cards: Clue Cards. I made some Clue Cards to go specifically with my Outskirts Expansion, but I think some general Clue Cards could be nice to have... They function as regular Clues and can always be spent as such, but can also be used for some specific effects. And you get them... not sure how... maybe you can trade in 2 regular Clues to get one Clue Card.
1-16 cards: Any other ideas??
