A few suggestions, as stated above, 3x2 archers with wind rune and support scion is really disgusting

....

2x1 archers with fire rune can ping an army to death with chip damage.

This cannot be overstated. If you're expecting high defense opponents, get the 3 threat option, and keep away from him, using scions with roots as speed bumps if needed. With 2 sets of rerolls (1 for rank and 1 for precise), you've got a 75% chance of killing 1 tray of death knights per attack. Which may not seem like much, but if you can use a scion to slow him, that's probably 4 rounds of shots before he gets clear of the scion (1 round to get close, 2 to kill the scion, and 1 to clear the immobilize), during which time you can move around and get out of easy reach of him. And the scion may put do a bit of damage before he goes down, as well.

If you're expecting regular defense (2 or 1) opponents, the archers' precise-1 ability means you can usually hit reliably with both regular and fire runes attacks simultaneously, using only 1x2 trays.

Average damage for regular attacks, if you reroll specifically for hits:

  • 56.3% chance of doing 4 points
  • 37.5% of 2 points
  • 6.3% of doing no damage.

Fire rune, odds are, if you reroll only no-damage dice:

  • 14.0% miss
  • 34.4% 2 points
  • 25.8% 4 points
  • 4.3% 8 points
  • 25% attempt not made because of lack of unstable runes

Individually, neither of those sounds overwhelming. But together, that's an average of 4.7 points of damage per round, at the low cost of 24 army points. It doesn't work well if you're facing high-defense opponents, since they don't combine, so you'll have a hard time putting wounds on anything, but it's just fine for whittling down regular infantry and cavalry, especially if you have 2 or 3 sets of archers with terrain and a scion or two to make it hard for your opponent to reach them.

And as a final thought: if you're still having problems with raw hitting power, Hunter's Guile costs only 4 points, and can possibly give you that extra punch you're lacking.

At this point, locally, we don’t have a Waiqar strategy or build that beats Latari with even a 30% success rate. We managed to evolve Latari army strategy a lot faster than Waiqar. The staggering lack of mobility is too crippling. So, this thread was a little surprising to me.

the play along the long side are trickier in that a lot of your mobility ends up crippled. Only time I've had any trouble at all.
