BB's house rules for targeted fixing

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

Hey all,

Would you like to give me your opinions/math-guesses on these?
I'm typically looking to buff under used ships just enough to be useful. I'd rather stick to core elements of the game, utilize existing cards, be simple, etc.
Feel free to offer new suggestions for under used ships too. But keep in mind I like things simple, and hopefully balanced.
Also looking for anyone who would want to volunteer to make some quick versions of these as cards.

SQUAD UPGRADE:

New upgrade slot, intended as group dynamic, formation flying, or same ships in a list upgrades. also will deal with named squadrons.

Flight Pair, 0 pt, SQUAD

Small ship only

At the start of the first turn, place a pairing token with another ally ship the same type with Flight Pair at Range 1.

At the start of combat, if the paired ship is within Range 1 from you, you may remove 1 of your focus tokens and assign it to the paired ship.

IMPERIAL SHIPS

Tie Fighter:

Squad Cohesion, 1 pt, MOD

Tie Fighter only

When attacking or defending, if there is another Tie Fighter within Range 1-2 of you and you have a focus token, you may change 1 [eyeball] to a [hit].

Intimidation, 0 pt, TITLE

Tie Fighter only

Each time you attack a ship, assign it a fear token. If there are 3 fear tokens, remove them from that ship and assign a copy of “There’s Too Many of Them!” to that ship. Remove all fear tokens at the end of the round.

“There’s Too Many of Them!” CONDITION

When attacking, roll 1 fewer attack dice. Remove this condition at the end of the round.

Firespray-31:

Chassis Refit, -3 pt, TORPEDO or MISSILE or CANNON

Firespray-31 only

This upgrade has a negative point value.

You may fire secondary weapons from your rear auxiliary arc.

I like where you’re mind is at with this one, but it needs some work. For starters, if you have 3+ TIE fighters in your list then the vast majority of ships you’ll face will have a higher PS than you, meaning they will shoot before you and this condition will never affect them. I would change it to something like “At the start of combat, each enemy ship that has 3+ TIE fighters in arc at range 1-3 must...”

Also, there is already an EPT named “Intimidation.”

Oh wait that's true... Should be more like tractor beam...

I think this should then be a unique condition. lemme reword it.

Keep em coming. I love house rules of any kind. Shows that people care about the game itself, not only about winning by flying the latest shizzazz.

Haha! "You thought I'd be here, didn't you? Well, watch me clear half the board with my decloaking magic shenanigans!"

Its only one time a game so I don't think it would break anything, especially on a Firespray. Takes up a mod slot too. I'd would just add that when you decloak, you perform a standard large base barrel roll.

I really like squad based upgrade card ideas and this seems very balanced. I had similar ideas with T-65 squadrons:

Blue Squadron: When within range 1 of another blue squadron title you may increase your agility by 1

Red Squadron: same but with attack dice

I always felt if any large ship should be nimble, it should be the Firespray (NOT JM5K). Maybe allow it to do 1 hard turn and sloops.

TIE Punisher: Allow it to fire two ordnance at the same time (different targets unless it is a huge ship). I mean, it has 2 silo pods.

B-wing: title gyro cockpit or something- granting after a red maneuver then may/must perform a free barrel roll in the opposite direction to remove the stress. Ie: hard 1 left turn then barrel roll right to remove the stress. (Straights do not count)

x-wing: 2 different titles that work similar. Requiring an astromech (or torpedo) with a reduced point cost.

Also astromechs- remove the word “action” from card texts; maybe replace it with ‘if you are not stressed or ionized’
