Steel Command: the Drunkle Raddus of Blogs (Steel Command January Containment Thread)

By Truthiness, in Star Wars: Armada

8th place

ISD1, Screed, Avenger, Boarding Troopers, Wing Commander, Leading Shots

Raider 1, Instigator, Flechette Torpedoes, Ordnance Experts

2x Gozanti cruisers

Superior Positions, Advanced Gunnery, Hyperspace Assault

I've got all the lists, so don't worry about that. I just need the time to type them all out.

Wasn't sure

List compilation complete!

You planning on an AAR?

I'm not sure that he wants to tell everyone how his Madine-led fleet was out- maneuvered by a couple of Vics.

Not out-manuevered so much as unable to find an approach what with the bombers, DCaps, and QBTs everywhere. It was definitely a day of finding the hard limits of Madine. I've long known Jerjerrod was superior, but it was never so in my face as it was yesterday. One of these days I'll stop trying to run niche commanders. I'll do a post mortem less on the tournament and more on my Madine attempts in general.

Oh hey, has anyone heard of this Sato guy?

Sato? He's mainstream now, all the cool kids are running him. He's as normal now as The Black Keys. Now, you want niche crazy commanders.... but enough about my plans with Letters to Cleo!

I feel like the MC75 being a generalist isn't a bad thing. Until you see upgrades you have no idea how the opponent will run it. Not as predictable as Assault Frigates.

I should have wrote more, instead I went grocery shopping at 3am, and went to a fire call.

If @geek19 and @Snipafist want to get in on preview writing fun, just let me know. Lists are out there to analyze!

I appreciate the offer, but without knowing the players and how they run their lists, I'm personally afraid of missing something obvious or writing something offensive (me? Nahhhh!)

I will, of course, be watching their careers with great interest, though.

A shame.

You and @Snipafist would have great opinions, I feel, in the analysis game.

As I am unable to actually join and play, or even spectate, I find the actual list-and-Meta analysis the single most interesting part of the World Cup.

@BiggsIRL always does fantastic views and analysis of the groupings and lists, and I am fascinated to hear @Truthiness and @shmitty have their additional views too.

I certainly would appreciate more points of view on the subject... The more Meta we are on the Meta, the happier I am. ?

I mean, as it is, I’m the rules guy... I struggle to be really passionate about things outside of that purview, and it makes for really dry and one-sided conversation... I mean, really, who wants breakdowns on which rules are routinely ignored or gotten wrong in a tournament... all it does is serve to make people uncomfortable.

Eric and I can talk about it this weekend. The immediate problem being that we're driving down tomorrow and playing Regionals Saturday, driving back Sunday. So, maybe Sunday night, yeah? Something to talk about in the car, haha.

(I call dibs on being the color guy and ignoring the stats while Eric spouts off about VORP and ERA+ and OPS. Ironically I do sports more than Eric, but I bet comments about FEELINGS and HEART will be more natural coming from me.)

We all submitted a "about ourselves" bit on fleet submission which Biggs has. If you need more colour hit me up, i probably know nearly everyone.

Who's Trinidad and Tobago and who's the US then? Because I can't wait to flub THAT prediction hahah

I don't mind taking a crack at it with @geek19 at some point if folks are interested. Lately I've been a bit bogged down with Regionals prep and taking care of the kiddo, which has resulted in less stuff from me recently.

If no one else, at least I am interested. ?

I posted a long article on the best way to use each of the 20 Rebel ship variants. You probably disagree with me and I am okay with that.

Remember, I wasn't talking about the only use or all the uses. Just the BEST use.

Good to se you back with an article. Good thoughts on each of the ships. While I was reading the article it made me think about using th Pelta Assault as a flack boat.

Pelta Assault Ship (56)
• General Draven (3)
• Flechette Torpedoes (3)
• Phoenix Home (3)
• Toryn Farr (7)
= 72 Points
