Twin resistance bombers

By Pooleman, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I ran this list last night with really good success. Just curious what you guys thought.

Twin Resistance Bomber (100)

"Crimson Specialist" — B/SF-17 Bomber 27
Trajectory Simulator 1
Bomblet Generator 3
Sensor Cluster 2
Crossfire Formation 2
Ship Total: 35
Crimson Squadron Pilot — B/SF-17 Bomber 25
Trajectory Simulator 1
Ordnance Silos 2
Thermal Detonators 3
Sensor Cluster 2
Crossfire Formation 2
Ship Total: 35
Braylen Stramm — ARC-170 25
Sabine Wren 2
R5-P9 3
Alliance Overhaul 0
Ship Total: 30

I was looking at a very similar list but with 2 crimson squadron pilots (thermal detonators and ordnance silos) and R3-A2 on Braylen.

Ive not actually tried it out though because I felt the damage output would be too low. Your build might be a better version.

What did you go up against?

2 tie bombers and 2 high PS ace FO TIEs.

How useful did you find sensor cluster? I’m just thinking if they’re not better just kept plain as big hit point sinks?

Sensor cluster is useful. As long as you have an focus token you will always have an evade. If you roll an evade, great. If you roll a focus you spend the focus and if you roll a blank then sensor cluster kicks in and you spend the focus to get the evade. It’s a guaranteed evade you your bombers will last longer. You could leave the tech slot, and even the title blank to free up 8 points if you wish.

I am of the mind that Trajectory Simulator is not important enough on Crimson Specialist, what with his ability already providing versatility with placement.

I also find that the title AND sensor cluster is redundant. Either you ditch the title, getting one evade result no matter what your green roll thanks to Sensor Cluster, or you take the title, getting one evade result no matter what your green roll as long as the other bomber is close. I would probably prefer the cluster here.

As for the CSP, I like using action bombs to capitalize on their low PS. And again, same deal with SC vs CF, but here, you might not have a focus, what with an action bomb. That might just need to be accepted.

As for a Sabine carrier - I'm not a huge fan of Braylen for that purpose, unless you give him a Bomb. However, Thane would probably get the job done better. Or a TIE w/ the title, Sabine, Scavenger Crane, and Bomb of choice.

All in all, I might use this:

Crimson Specialist

Bomblets

Collision Detector

Sensor Cluster

Deflective Plating

CSP

Collision Detector

Silos

Cluster Mines

Title

Deflective Plating

Pattern Analyzer

Ahsoka Tano

VI

Captured TIE

Title

Sabine

Scavenger Crane

Cluster Mines

Title on the other bomber as well? Clocks in at 97 by my count w/o it

I line Trajectory Simulator on Specialist. It provides a lot of options and unpredictability.
