I finally finished my 4 TIE prototypes for my next Epic Play scenario

By weisguy119, in X-Wing

I painted them a lighter gray to represent their limited action as prototype ships. I haven’t worked out any stats for them yet but the Avenger will be piloted by Maarek Stele and the Hunter by Soontir Fel.

Avenger should be similar to the Silencer I think. Maybe halfway between the silencer and advanced? 3/3/3/2? And give it a missile slot?

I don’t know about the hunter lore so I can’t help there.

Nice! I’ll take a good look at these when deciding what stats to give mine. In the end, my custom ship stats are usually a mix of my interpretation of the ships from lore with a splash of borrowed ideas of those who worked up stats for them before me. I feel the Avenger should have a tractor beam, though.

That Avenger is gorgeous and super nostalgic!

Thanks! It really brings back the glory days of Star Wars video games, doesn’t it?

Yup! It would be cool to make an Avenger/Defender/Gunboat squad just for old times sake!

They’re all going to be in my upcoming Epic Play scenario.

Here's the basic premise of the scenario:

General Dodonna, operating on sensitive intel, has found the location of an asteroid base used by the Imperial Department of Military Research for testing TIE Fighter prototype models.

After luring the base's Star Destroyer and one of its Arquitens cruiser escorts to a nearby system in a feint operation, General Dodonna springs his attack.

His force, consisting of the Nebulon-B Frigate command ship Vanguard, a CR-90 corvette, a DP-20 Frigate, 2 GR-75 fire ships, 6 X-wings, 2 Y-wings, 2 A-wings and 2 B-wings is bolstered by the presence of such superior starfighter pilots as Wedge Antilles, Dutch Vander and Derek "Hobbie" Klivian.

Meanwhile, Grand Admiral Thrawn has seen through the diversionary ruse and ordered the Star Destroyer and Arquitens to take the bait while he lies in wait.

Believing in economy of force, the skill of his pilots and his own supreme strategic intellect, Thrawn takes command of the remaining Arquitens Command Cruiser and 2 Raider-class corvettes. He brings two TIE Defender Elites, led by Vult Skerris, from his pet project on Lothal and puts out a call across the Empire for elite pilots to deal a knockout blow to the upstart Rebellion.

Admiral Garrick Versio answers the call by sending 3 Special Forces TIEs (Inferno Squad TIE prototypes) led by Gideon Hask in his TIE Interceptor.

Already familiar with the ships, first-rate test pilots Maarek Stele and Soontir Fel are deployed by the wishes of the Emperor himself. They are tasked to lead the 4 prototype TIEs being tested at the facility, two of which are advanced scout ships designed to locate the ever-elusive Rebel forces. Protection of the scout ships is vital to the operation as they will provide precise targeting information for Thrawn’s defense force.

Rounding out Thrawn's fleet are two brand new Assault Gunboats, the pride and joy of Cygnus Spaceworks.

Thrawn seeds the nearby asteroids with adolescent Exogorths and proximity mines. The defenses are completed with 4 laser batteries surrounding the base, which has its own point defense turrets.

Can General Dodonna slip his GR-75 fire ships through Thrawn's defenses, dealing a blow to Imperial weapons development or will Thrawn deal a serious setback to the Rebel scum?

I'll be using my asteroid base painted something like this:

And my Nebulon-B Frigate:

The Arquitens Cruiser and 2 TIE Defender Elites are commission jobs by some people way more talented than I and won't be done for months (waiting lists). I'll probably have the 3D printed DP-20 and Inferno Squad TIEs commission painted so they're nice and clean (I'm just a beginner at painting minis). I have everything else I need. I just need to paint the asteroid base, turrets and one of the Exogorths (already painted the other one).

Epic!!

That one Tie Fighter with the senor antennas//bent "wings" looks like it could create some interesting search and rescue operations on planets or asteroid fields.

TIE Hunters that was in Rebel Strike (Rouge Squadron 3) right?

Anyways I wish FFG had made an S-foil action or mechanic because X-wings, B-wings, ARCs, Star Vipers, and the TIE Hunter could use it. Well we can hope for 2nd edition.
