I've been playing X-Wing for a couple of years, building a collection and always trying various pilots. The game is by no means getting stale, but we wanted more variety instead of seeing the same pilots cropping up again, and my group decided that we'd like to mix things up with some random pilot drafts.
After a few hours of Excel tinkering, I made this pilot draft generator:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14nOqQPCrpaK6RBMIV8bAkG6sBcCtmYho/view?usp=sharing
How to get started:
- Download a copy of the file
- Ensure you enable macros after opening the file
- You need to first enter the count of ship models you have in your collection on the " Your Collection " tab. If you don't have any of a particular ship, set it 0. Make sure to set it appropriately if you have something like Most Wanted, which comes with 2x Z-95 Headhunters
-
Head to the "
Generator
" tab and select
- Your faction
- How many squad points you want your pilots to contribute e.g. if you're playing a 100pt game and you want headroom for upgrades, you can enter 80pts leaving minimum 20pts for upgrades
- Hit "Generate a squad!"
Other info:
- This was made to generate random pilots rather than random ships . For example, rebels have access to just 1 pilot for the Scurrg Bomber, Captain Nym, but 14 pilots (not deduplicating) of the T-70 X-Wing if you have the core set, expansion and Heroes of the Resistance expansion. That means you're going to see the T-70 appear more frequently than the Scurrg
- It will not allow you to have the same unique pilot across multiple ships e.g. Hera Syndulla
Would be interested to hear what else you would find useful in this, or if you use it and find any bugs
