still confuserd

By Orjo Creld, in Star Wars: Destiny

so the Rey character card displays 1melee, +2 melee, 1x disrupt 1x resource and +1 resource and a null . What do they mean? FFG forgot to include in a key like it did with X-Wing which made flying as easy as a T-16 back home.

Finn displays 1xrange and a 2xrange 1xmelee 1xshield 1x resource and a null. I consider myself a bright guy but I'm ignoring the symbols and feel I'm missing out on the fun

If the die face is black it is a base value, (IE resolvable).

If the die face is blue with a + in from of the number it is a modifier. A blue modifier can only be resolved with a base Black die of the same type.

The dice Symbols are on a card with the same name. Watch some videos, the main page has a good tutorial. YouTube has a lot too. This is a good game, ask as many questions as you need. Don't lose faith! Your best chance is to go down to a game store while they're playing and join in some games. A lot of us are good about bringing extra decks and always excited to teach new players.

It is all in the rules brother.

The rules on the dice are in my opinion not explained all that well.

There are 5 things to note on the face of a dice:

  • The Icon, which is a short hand for what happens when you resolve the dice. Deal damage, discard cards from opponents hand or resources.
  • The Value, this is the number and it will allow you to deal that much damage or discard that many cards and so on.
  • A Modifier, this is the "+" symbol and you may only resolve a modifier with another dice that shares the same icon and isn't a modifier itself.
  • Resource Cost, is a little icon with a number that has you spend that much to resolve the dice.
  • Colour, a blue number is a modifier and black isn't and red is a blank - this is just a handy reminder but you'll find old hand call a modifier a blue value and a regular dice a black value or some variation of that.

Now, when you resolve an icon type you may resolve as many dice as you want that share that icon, each value is resolved separately and you may add as many modifiers as you want. So if you have rolled melee damage with: 1,2,+1 and +3 you could resolve these as 1+1+3 and 2 or 1+3 and 2+1 for example. This is mostly important if your opponent has Force Illusion or has a character that will be killed with 3 damage.

I hope that gets you sorted if not please ask further questions and I'll see what I can do.
