Tournament Formats

By SkullNBones, in X-Wing Organized Play

Besides the Standard dogfight, what other tourney formats have you used and how do they work? Locally we have run Escalation, Hunger Games, and Hanger Bay. We have also ran the following:

Kessel Run: 50pt squad, Slalom race with various obstacles: moving asteroids, armed satellites, nebula, minefields, singularities.
De-escalation: Same build rules as Escalation, only start with the 150pt list, then 120, then 90, and finally 60.
Shipyard: Similar to hanger bay, except your opponent picks your list.
Multi Faction: 1 ship from each faction (upgrades remain specific)
Mercenary: Squads may consist of 1 faction or a mix of rebel/scum or imperial/scum. In mixed squads, the mercenary (scum) may cost more than the main faction (upgrades remain specific)
Brown Bag: Only upgrades available are those from core sets and the cards that came with the ship itself.
Data mining: Standard Squad builds, with a centered objective that can be "minded" for VP. When the last data chip is mined the match ends.
Ironman: 150pt squads, but what dies in a round does not replenish for the next round. (rules in place for fleeing/repairing damaged ships).

So what others has everyone run?

We've run 59 point cross faction quite a bit over the years. Basic rules are double the obstacles, two ship minimum from different factions, otherwise regular rules. No ban list to speak of (I haven't seen it broken yet!) Its a ton of fun with 45-50 minute rounds, all the details are here:
