I recently bought the following products, because they were discounted:

Core Set
Oathsworn Cavalry
Rune Golems Unit Expansion
Daqan Infantry Command Unit Expansion
Lord Hawthorne Hero Expansion Pack
Spearmen Unit Expansion
Reanimate Archers Unit Expansion
Carrion Lancers Unit Expansion Pack
Reanimates Expansion Pack
Waiqar Infantry Command Unit Expansion

There isn't a lot of data right now for the game, so I don't exactly know what I need to buy to get competitive. I'd like to hear your suggestions what to buy to get a competitive list.

You should have enough atm to run a decent daqan army (though I am not always a fan of running two heroes). Playing with what you have will really give you a better idea of what you'll want for your play style. This early in the life of the game there isn't too much that can trap you (well... don't go too crazy with rune golems)

For future purchases: crossbowmen and the deathknights shore up the missing archetype for both armies. You could do the same with Deepwood Archers for daqan, but that's a much more restrictive use.

Ankaur maro is the other hero you want for waiqar and makes a huge difference. Suggest getting him before deathknights if going waiqar.

Other than that it's just a matter of what dials/figures you want more of. Consider another core as its usually good bang for the buck if you plan on keeping two armies (also more dice!)

Good luck and happy gaming!

Assuming you already have one core set...

For Waiqar, you can get to a pretty decent 200 point list with either another pack of lancers, or a pack of Death Knights. I would run:

Ardus, Fortuna's Dice, Ancient Technique

6 Reanimates, Death Caller, Support Lancer, Simultaneous Orders

2 Death Knights, Obcasium's Gauntlet

2 Lancers, tempered steel

2 Archers, Combat Ingenuity

2 Archers, Combat Imgenuity

Daqan is a bit more complicated with what you have available. You could run Kari, Hawthorne, six Spearmen, two Oathsworn and a unit of either 1 or 2 Rune Golems, depending on the upgrades you take on your units. This would be a great, varied list for pick up games, but might not be the most competitive thing out there.

If you want to up your competitiveness with Daqan, I'd say add 2 or more boxes of Crossbowmen and/or another unit of Oathsworn. I personally think that 2-tray units of Oathsworn are one of the best units in the game, but there seem to be a lot of players who like the larger units. I consider Oathsworn two tray units to be fairly expendable and play them very aggressively to take out things like archers and blocking units like single lancers so that my Spearmen and golems can come in and land the real punches mid to late game.

I have 2 corsets, and 1 of each Daqan an expansion, except the Heavy Crossbowmen, which I have 3. Rarely have I felt my army building to ne constrained by this collection. Plenty of each upgrade, plenty of all the figures to make a variety of unit choices.

Only since getting the Heavy Crossbows have I started feeling the need for a 2nd Daqan Infantry Command box, and that is simply so I can have more horn blower dudes and fire runes

I will probably buy one of each missing pack for both factions. The Reanimates and Spearmen are at a massive discount currently (~9€), does it make any sense to buy one or more packs from them?

Spearmen...maybe. Reanimates - YES! When you pick up Ankaur Maro, you will see how powerful his ability to add full trays to Waiqar units can be. If they're that cheap, I'd say why not! However, there are others who are disappointed with the Reanimates' slow movement (high initiative values), and don't even use Reanimates any more. Maybe pick up one or two, and hold off on opening them until you get some more games in, and if you don't want them, you can sell them for ~11-15 Euros and make a tiny bit of your money back? Just a thought.

accually i love the reanimates. sure they are slow. however you can lower their initiatives via banners, and with lingering death and necromancer they are extreemly survivable. You can use them as support piece with 4 tray dispatch runner and solo ardus, or a heavy hitter unit with ardus as upgrade and front line carrion lancer. or you can play funny 12 tray unit and watch desperate attempts of killing it. Also 4 threat is no joke :) I guess every unit right now has its plaxe iys just the matter of learning how to use all of those options that your army of choice provides.

There are reasonable justifications for 12 trays of Spearmen and 12-16 trays of Reanimates. A single core and a single infantry expansion puts your at 6 trays.

The reason for 12 trays of Spearmen is that you can run a 9 tray Spearmen formation with a Frontline Rune Golem (8trays of Spearmen) and a 2x2 with support upgrades. You can then also run two 6 tray formations. That is probably the reasonable upper limit for Daqan.
