Custom Endor wargaming mat and terrain

By JBar, in Star Wars: Legion

After months of debating, I finally decided I'd do a canvas and caulk spray painted battlemat. I didn't want to spend money on a battlemat online but I don't have the space for a gaming table. So I made a home made battlemant that can be easily rolled up and transported but also has some texture to it. I followed this great tutorial using 6 tubes of latex acrylic flexible caulk, a canvas cloth, and Rustoleum spray paint.

I painted brown, then burnt orange, then dark green, then light green, then a matte clear cloat

The tie fighter was a Revell tie first order with the flashing lights and sound. I tore it up with pliers and painted it grey

I was lucky and was able to use a CNC machine to cut out the bunker. I added some greeblies on top. Here is the topic that I found the blueprints

The bases are made of particle board. I put plaster putty on them after sanding down the edges. Then I splattered a mix of Elmer's glue, sand, and sawdust on the bases. Then I painted them brown, then a 50/50 mix of orange and brown, then a drybrush of off white. I drilled some tiny holes and glued in decorative plant pieces I found at Michael's. Here is a topic I made on how to make the bases: Base and terrain tutorial

Overall I'm actually really happy with how easy this mat rolls up. It's very durable and cost me about $40 in supplies. It has more texture than a mouse pad mat but is more portable than a wooden or plastic table. Next up will be Hoth terrain! Those snow troopers just look too good not to build a table for.

Very, very cool. Looks great!

Good job!

Love the crashed TIE fighter! It makes a great set piece and objective to fight over.
