Really? That's good news then because I watched two demo videos and both said LOS was determined by the target squad leader's position. The person demoing the game was very clear about this. It seemed weird to me too and it sounds like the person running the demo was probably wrong.

Yeah, maybe that was just for the demo.

The same video that I referenced above also stated that you can't kill a squad's leader until the rest of its units are killed. If that is true, how do resolve this scenario:

(So as not to go off-topic in this thread, I've created a new one to discuss this)

Not true. LOS and range is measured from each trooper to see if they can shoot the target. And for taking casualties if you cant trace LOS to the trooper he can’t die

Yeah, there's an argument for both sides on this one i think right now. The demo did indicate leader to leader, @Jabby your source? Separate of that though we do have the "spray" keyword on flamers, which multiplies weapon damage by the number of models in LOS
( actual text - Add this weapon’s dice to the attack pool one time for each mini in the defending unit to which line of sight is not blocked)

I believe it was mentioned briefly in one of the GenCon videos, maybe the Team Covent one? It was said that if troopers can't bee seen, and they put two storm troopers behind the endor bunker, they can't be hit. I think he also mentioned that they can't shoot as well but I might be mistaken about that.

I just found the video its, How to play Star Wars: Legion | Demo w/ Alex Davy. Alex talks about it at around 16:30

The spanish rulebook

The thread is already off topic. The los from each trooper for shooting is from the spanish rulebook the los for casualties i read in a different thread somewhere i think. Sorry for any confusion

So, to get the thread more back on topic....

I have been playing IA (from time to time) for about two years now. I have almost all the figure packs they have released (only missing four) and all but two of the expansions (Bespin and Heart of Empire). So, I am way too invested in IA to just give up on it.

But, I have to say I was also very excited by the news about Legion. I am going to be taking a serious look at it and might just start playing it as well.

Only problem for me, my youngest son decided he wanted X-wing for Christmas, so we got him the Force Awakens core set and a couple of ships packs. He used some of his Christmas money yesterday to buy a couple of other ship packs. So, I might be spending more money down the line on X-wing given his interest there.

Demos very typically use different rules from the full game for the sake of speed.
