Eh they periodically go on sale on Amazon. Its also post xmas so all kinds of stuff is on sale to clear stock.

Means nothing, just amazon trying to clear some more stuff out in the post Christmas sale.

It is cool though. If I wasn’t saving for something else specific I’d nab one.

I didn' notice any big marketing for x wing this time. Barnes and noble...target...nothing.

I think they stopped trying to get crossover customers from regular boardgames. Or just star wars fans who see the movie and jump into the game.

The player base is probably right about where it' going to stay. Some wiggle as people leave the game and some start new. But I don' expect any more big influx of new players coming to x wing.

I would prefer to be wrong about that.

After playing with the Core again this holiday season. I gotta say. THE NEW CORE IS BNLLSHTT TRASH. I would get the old core + Reesistance Heroes.

The new core is awful and contains ZERO useful pilots and ships and upgrades. (Shout out to Blue Ace who is pretty fun. Ello Asty is kinda eh. Really the only competitive pilot is Poe, who doesn't come in the core.)

Edit: Ps8 poe comes in it. (BB-8 sadly is rarely used as a T2 helper in Ballet Norra, not competitive).

Yes, the damage deck is ofc useful.

PS8 Poe absolutely comes in this core. Ella Asty does not though - he's in the T70 expansion pack.

I got it for £13 on the UK site last week. Bargain as normally about £30! My second set.

Much prefer the damage deck in TFA core. Only source for BB8. Probably my most played ship is Omega Sq Pilot but I’m weird like that.

Damage deck true. =/ However, I'm finding the new damage deck to be really weak, I found multiple times where the crits had really no effect. Kind of disappointing.

I hate those. Plus many cards have been altered slightly. I think you can only take the TFA damage deck to tournaments now although that’s not my bag.

OSP is the generic PS4 with an elite talent slot or if you’d prefer Black Squadron Pilot/FO.

So, the damage deck is generally better (I can't recall the last time I saw someone using the old damage deck despite it still being tournament legal).

I generally prefer PS8 Poe at this point because the PS9 is more expensive. It's not just the 2pt increase, but you also need a bid to guarantee you didn't waste those extra 2pts. I'd rather run the PS8 with VI personally, but that's just a matter of preference.

The TIE FO generics are actually one of the better cheap blockers in the game, but that ship type has dropped out of favor.

BB-8 has seen a lot of play with Poe and Black One lately because of harpoons.

What's interesting is how long it took for the tech slot to not be garbage. It wasn't until HotR with Primed Thrusters and Pattern Analyzers that it started seeing use outside of sporadic corner cases.

That being said, the only thing from the original box that still sees play is R2D2, so the TFA set is still ahead in that race :/

Ok but Biggs is OG. Yeah I'll be honest, the rest of the Tie Fighters are not very good in meta, but were good in design. Backstabber, Dark Curse, would all be ok with some buffs. And the crack swarm was still a thing.

And Luke is still a main char. And R2D2 is Tier 1 awesome.

And I still use generic 12 pt TFs over FOs. I've used a TF in like at least 6 builds this year alone. Tie FO? Maybe twice, and once as Omega Leader which doesn't come with.

Tech was basically just Comm Relay on OL for a long time. With some PA for those specific people who like it (i hate it.) but nowadays, Adv Opt and Primed Thrusters are awesome.

Last year, Target had them on sale for $12, which is how I got my second and third TFA sets.
