Force Throw question

By wakefieldbw, in Imperial Assault Campaign

If you push a friendly figure through a hostile figure (both small), does it take 1 space or 2? I assume 1 after consulting the RRG.

From RRG:

• Pushing a figure requires no movement points.

Throw, not Push

Push is move by X spaces, which means it does not use movement points, and thus extra movement costs due to terrain or hostile figures do not apply.

Correct, and for the reasons you cite. Pushing follows the “counting spaces” rules.

Guess I owe my rebels an apology.

Nah, being Imperial means never having to say you're sorry.

Move by X spaces does not actually use Counting Spaces. Move by X spaces is just a series of Move 1 spaces, which use adjacency.

E.g. Pounce is a placement within 3 spaces and uses Counting Spaces.

Thanks for calling that out. You’re right, but that wasn’t my mix up.

For some reason I was thinking pushing uses counting spaces when I posted. Some how I crossed the wires in my head around the ability itself, Diala must be within three spaces from the target figure (counting spaces) and she can push it up to three spaces (move x spaces)... I’ve said that to my group before, so it was an extremely silly mistake in my part.

I think this has pretty much been answered, but just to clarify-

The extra movement pts required for difficult terrain or hostile figure spaces are only necessary when "Movement Points" are a factor. Gaining "movement points" can be done in a variety of ways, most commonly by performing a Move action.

Gaining Movement Points is different than "moving spaces". The pts track things like the extra points needed for difficult terrain or hostile figures. Moving spaces is simply that- moving a space. That is, as long as you can physically move into that space (so while difficult terrain is not accounted for, you still cannot, for example, move through impassible terrain or end your move on another figure).
