Post Phantom II builds

By Shadow345, in X-Wing

I like this one for 26 points, and had a little success with him:

Fenn Rau - 20

Wired 1 / Jan Ors 2 / R2 Astromech 1 / Pulsed Ray Shield 2

He draws a lot of agro (like Biggs) but his ability is a big defensive help to the entire squad. Wired helps him because he usually won't have a focus. He can give an evade to someone in a pinch. R2 is amazing at clearing stress and PRS + R2 means he can ionize himself for a shield and clear stress at the same time.

Enjoyed flying this next to my Expertise Rey with Finn, Kanan, Sloop Title, Snuggle Compartment, Crane, Countermeasures and a naked Rex.

Fenn Rau (Sheathipede) — Sheathipede-class Shuttle 20

Trick Shot 0

Jan Ors 2

"Chopper" (Astromech) 1

Guidance Chips 0

Ship Total: 23

Being able to coordinate Rey a target lock after using Jan to turn her focus into an evade was great when flying against the arc dodgers.

Tank Ezra seems nasty to try and kill.

Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) - 17

Debris Gambit (2)

R2 Astromech (1)

Experimental Interface (3)

Crew optional

Ship Total: 23

Basically focus or TL if you think you'll have an attack with Ezra or just Coordinate an action to someone else and pop EI and Debris gambit to token Ezra up. R2 to help clear the stress so it can be repeated every round and still keep a reasonable amount of maneuverability.

I like this build. What crew would you prefer to add ?

Really depends on the rest of your list.

Inspiring Recruit (1) - works well if you have another ship that needs help clearing stress (a ship with Maul crew would really benefit from this)

Intel Agent (1) - just all around usage, especially decent if you have a low ps blocker or are playing against aces

Nien Numb (1) - if you need Ezra to be able to keep up with really fast ships and still drop stress (might change R2 astromech to something else if your list moves THAT fast)

Tactician (2) - having both a primary and auxiliary arc makes this worth thinking about

Kyle Katarn (3) - even more action efficiency, doing a green move drops a stress earning you a focus for offense thus reducing your action decision to "Do I take a TL or Coordinate"

Still a work in progress...

Test (100)

•Eaden Vrill (38) - YT-2400
Ion Cannon (3), Intelligence Agent (1), Ion Projector (2)

•Ezra Bridger (23) - Sheathipede-class Shuttle
Snap Shot (2), "Chopper" (0), •R3-A2 (2), Pulsed Ray Shield (2)

•Poe Dameron (39) - T-70 X-Wing
Veteran Instincts (1), •BB-8 (2), Advanced Optics (2), •Black One (1), Autothrusters (2)

If you knock the cannon off Eaden and the PRS off Ezra then Ezra can have Gunner to double stress people. Eaden's ability is primary only, are you wanting to ion and stress combo the target?

I'm looking forward to trying this out:

Lothal Rebel (35)
Reinforced Deflectors (3)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Wookiee Commandos (1)
Ghost (Phantom II) (0)

AP-5 (15)
"Chopper" (0)
Phantom II (0)

Poe Dameron (31)
Adaptability (0)
R2-D2 (4)
Advanced Optics (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)

Total: 100

Both the Ghost and Poe are tough to kill, and difficult to alpha strike. Having a last activation black one boost seems like fun.

I just flew a similar list in a tournament yesterday and completely decimated others using this. I swapped out TLT for autoblaster, and changed reinforced deflectors to sensor jammer (you could keep it though, they're both good against different things) and then added expert handling to Poe and inspiring recruit to AP. Poe flys ahead, doesn't care about bumping and gets a free barrel roll that can dump up to two target locks on himself or one on each.

It's very potent and feels like you are running an epic in standard haha.

Don't forget title card for another potential shield point

The title doesn’t have a point cost. I think the general ruling is that it cannot be equipped unless you are told to do so by the Ghost upgrade card.

I believe the Toronto regional allowed it (or missed it) as I saw it on stream yesterday.

Edit: Not to say I agree or disagree; just an observation.

Fair enough. It’s one of those things that didn’t matter until Chopper (and not like one extra trigger is super broken on the Sheathipede).

Agreed. Not broken. Probably needs FFG clarification though.

I can't see why it wouldn't be, the ghost card tells you to equip it, but neither Phantom card prohibits you from equipping it if you aren't docked. Just says "that ship only" but either way would be nice to have some clarfification.

I like me some cheap AP-5 with weapons engineer and M9G8. He can double lock some buddies and passively boost Poe's attack along with that of Low or whoever else is there.

Snap shot stressbot Ezra follows as a close second

When I built the list in a squad builder I added the title with the thought of using it for Chopper. Then when I was getting things out for my first time to fly it, I saw the dash on the card instead of the 0 in the point cost corner so I got to looking and saw the Ghost title says "Equip the Phantom title card to a friendly Attack Shuttle and dock it to this ship...." and decided that I shouldn't be allowed to equip the title without the Ghost in play and the shuttle docked. However, I have a feeling it says something about it in the rulebook that came with the Ghost, I just haven't looked there to verify yet.
