My copy of Rise of the Empire has just arrived. Woo hoo!
But I kinda thought I'm not going to play it until I've painted the models, because they're just too good to leave unpainted.
I got the core game not long ago and I'm still painting those models. Has anybody else had this weird dilemma? Wanting to paint them before playing your first game with them?
In my case no, I was too eager for playing it, but I agree that after I painted them, the game looks much cooler
Well, I'm struggling to find someone else keen enough to invest a couple of hours in a board game at this stage, so painting the models seemed like a good idea. After the first Star Destroyers were done, I just had to continue.
I bought the game when it came out. Painted all the minis, and the expansion minis, when the expansion came out. Still haven't played the game ...

Welcome to the club. Still waiting for my first game, too. But don't the minis come up great after painting?
I painted these for tabletop ready. They're far from perfect under scrutiny, but they look just fine on the table.
Took about one day for the core set, and a few hours for Rise of the Empire.

Yes, they are like very little stones. Where I bought them they also had something like grass, snow and else, but I only bought this one. It would be really cool to have them with different stuff, but I didn't want to spend much on that, just wanted to try out one to see how it looks
I had the same feeling. Had to paint the miniatures before play and storaging them.

I've had a few games before I decided to paint my models but now I have started to paint them I've made the decision not to play another game until I have them all done. I'm not great on the internet but I've tried to upload a few of my pictures to show you how I'm getting on with my models (I hope the link works?).
I started painting them before even playing my first game. So... I delayed until my last model was painted. Very good looking game and fun !!!
