Simple Boba Fett build for a new player?

By NBBTCS, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm introducing a friend to this game this weekend and he wants to use Boba Fett. I have most of the Imperial expansions and some of the scum ones. Basically I'm just fishing for some easy Boba lists to give him for his first game.

Edited by NBBTCS
  • Boba Fett
    • Slave 1
    • Fearlessness
    • Cluster Missiles
    • Extra Munitions
    • K4 Security Droid
    • Glitterstim
    • Guidance Chips

Makes for a very nasty close-range brawler; if you can get into range 1 in a head-on pass, cluster missiles can really pummel people - 2 3-dice attacks, each with at least 1 reroll, focus-to-hit modification, 1 bonus hit result, and a free critical result in your pocket from the guidance chips.

I run almost this exact build with an Asajj that can tractor beam ships into R1 for Boba to clean up. Not sure Asajj is a great ship for a new player though. You may want to pair some Kihraxz fighters instead. Had to drop the Glitter off Boba to fit 100 points, but here's what I got:

Boba Fett (Scum) (39)
Fearlessness (1)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Cluster Missiles (4)
Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
Slave I (0)

Black Sun Ace (23)
Deadeye (1)
Cruise Missiles (3)
Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Munitions Failsafe (1)
Guidance Chips (0)
Vaksai (0)

Black Sun Ace (23)
Deadeye (1)
Cruise Missiles (3)
Contraband Cybernetics (1)
Munitions Failsafe (1)
Guidance Chips (0)
Vaksai (0)

Total: 100

With a few less bells and whistles for a newer player, try:

Firespray-31: · Boba Fett (39)
Fearlessness (1)
Autoblaster (5)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Tail Gunner (2)

Or

Firespray-31: · Boba Fett (39)
Expertise (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)
· Dengar (3)
-- TOTAL ------- 50p. --

Navigator on imperial Boba is always fun.

Played a game of 2 on 2 with my niece on my team and her boyfriend paired up with my brother. It was her and her boyfriends first time playing, so we kept it to 2 ships on each side of the table. I gave my niece her choice of ships to fly and she chose Boba Fett, so I put this list together:

TIE Advanced: •Darth Vader (40)
Engine Upgrade (4)
TIE/x1 (0)
Predator (3)
Proton Rockets (3)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

Firespray-31: •Boba Fett (59)
Engine Upgrade (4)
•Andrasta (0)
Expertise (4)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
•Bomblet Generator (3)
Tail Gunner (2)

Total: 99/100

I built Boba like this to keep combat relatively simple for her as she was always rolling 4 dice out the front while gaining a little bonus for shots out of her rear. Bomblet generator was just for fun but managed to do some work for us.

We went against a loaded Jake and Dash w/HLC & VI, with Dash being flown by her boyfriend, which is another great build for beginners as he want aren't for hitting obstacles. My niece flew masterfully and opted to boost for the majority of her actions and took out dash almost single handedly, I think I put 2 points of damage on him with Vader.

If flying scum, I would go with much the same build on Boba but with Dengar instead of the tailgunner, and then paired with some Fenn build.

You asked for a simple list. This is simple and yet effective:

Boba, Fearlessness, Mangler Cannon, Dengar, Engine Upgrade (51)
Thweek, Mk II title, Autothrusters (27)
Black sun Enforcer, Mk II title (22)

Alternatively the black sun Enforcer can be substituted by either a
Cartel Marauder, Vaksai, Vectored Thrusters, Pulsed Ray Shield (22)
or by a
Cartel Marauder, Vaksai, Cruise Missile, Munitions Failsafe, Guidance Chip (22)

I'm probably going to go for something like this. I don't have Bomblet Generator, but I can probably substitute in proximity mines.

I should have put this in the OP, but here's what all I have:

Scum: Most Wanted, HWK-290, Jumpmaster 5k, Firespray, Starviper, IG-2k, Protectorate Starfighter, M3-A, G-1A, Shadowcaster

Empire: Everything up to Wave 10 + TIE Silencer

A friend of mine that has tried the game once or twice asked me to put together an "easy" list to fly containing the Slave-1 as Scum. Easy as in not too many things to remember as it is hard enough when you are new to this game remembering who moves first, what happens at different range-bands etc. This is what I opted for:

  • Kath Scarlet
    • Predator
    • Tail Gunner
    • Andrasta
    • Bomblet Generator
  • Kavil
    • Attanni Mindlink
    • TLT
    • Unhinged Astromech
    • Vectored Thrusters
  • N'dru Suhlak
    • Attanni Mindlink

My simple Firespray build is :

Firespray-31: · Kath Scarlet (38)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
· Dengar (3)
Burnout SLAM (1)
-- TOTAL ------- 50p. --

4-5 dice front and rear, re rolls, nearly always focus for action, one lil trick to get away if in trouble.

Easy to remeber, feels powerful.
