Simply question. Don’t know if I’d want it anyway after what ea did, but I do wanna know if it would be worth it for someone who wouldn’t play online multiplayer. I remember hearing they made the same mistake again of no skirmish mode, but updated it later? Anyway, just tell me y’all’s thoughts on this.
Is Battlefront 2 worth getting for singleplayer at the moment?
Short answer .. No.
I bought it for this very reason. I wanted to relive the magic that was Dark Forces. Instead, all you really you get a flavourless trainer.
The arcade mode makes you play through each mission at the lowest difficulty too. It's mind numbingly easy and if you could be bothered sinking the time into progressing .. good on you.
Having said this, I believe there has been/will be some extra levels released for campaign.
For a four hour campaign no not really, it's a multiplayer game without that aspect it's not worth it.
On the bright side, you'll get a better Star Wars story out of it than you will The Last Jedi.

I’ll admit, this is something I hate about today’s gaming market. They assume all gamers have good internet, and multiplayer games lack the staying power of game the give you decent offline content. Well, there’s always Bethesda games.

Yeah I grew up with games that could last you a few weeks to a few months now it's rare they'll last a week.
Fallout and Skyrim more than earnt their price tag,

Agreed.
Highly recommend just watching the campaign playthrough on YouTube if you're not interested in the multiplayer.
Sorry for the bump but this really doesn't warrant a thread of its own. And before anyone asks, yes, I have done research before posting here but it's better to see feedback from a familiar community.
Basically, I'm itching for a bit of Star Wars gaming and I refused to touch Battlefront II due to the poor launch and lootbox heavy game.
How is BFII faring at the moment? Is there a marked improvement since the poor reception? Is it a good multiplayer experience? Or is it more worth my time reinstalling the first Battlefront and saving hassle? (Even though I wasn't overly impressed by the sluggish progression)
Thanks.

Other than the progression system I've been having fun with Battlefront II (2017.) The single player was short but entertaining. The arcade is pleasant enough. The online is fun as well. The progression is a bit of a grind and cards do make a difference but a recent patch significantly reduced the threshold for the weapon unlocks. If you're going to play regularly the grind isn't that bad for this sort of game. You can also play the arcade to earn credits to get the crates (loot boxes) for online.
Starfighter Assault is a considerable improvement over the 2015 game.
The game is gorgeous. The graphics are top rate really (PS4.)
I'm not sure how it would be being new to the game but it is rare to feel you were beat by better cards.
I think it is a little easier to get the cards you want in this game than in 2015. You just got to get the credits for a crate or two and you don't need to continually feed credits into "charges" to then use the cards.
With the battlepoint system you get far more chances to play as heroes or vehicles than competing for the pickups in the 2015 version.
The loot crate and RNG also seems to create a bigger variety of loadouts. Except for Palpatine it doesn't really feel like everyone's running the same stuff.
For someone who is experienced with this style game, the single player modes are a little limited, though not as much as implied by some. the story mode got an extension, and the arcade play has what, 12 scenarios for each light and dark side, on 3 difficulty settings.
There's a lot of talk about the progression system, and yes, it's a bit weird, but so far, seem to be doing ok. I just wish the weapons were a little easier to unlock. The Starfighter mode is really good, but unfortunately not available on single player? (except for some of the campaign missions.)
I have this on PC, but I wish I had a console to play it on. my pc is bare minimum, so I have to degrade the graphics to run at a decent speed. This leads to a disadvantage on multiplayer, because I can't make out my enemies as quickly as they can see me. Not to mention, I prefer a controller, and you can't compete well against keyboard and mouse.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Yesterday I noticed that I had access to a 10 hour trial of the game - so much for research!
After playing a bit of Arcade while the game installed (still not finished) I have to say it's very pretty and seems tight in the gameplay department. Can't wait to jump in properly.
Also, this article
shows more changes coming in the not-too distant future.
I reckon next months pay will invest in the game.
You can buy the game for $40 now on Amazon. Pretty good deal there.
I'm really curious how they will revamp the progression system. The current system is so needlessly complicated. You got cards, you got crafting parts, credits, player level, class level, hero level... Its like four different people came up with a system and they couldn't figure out which one to use so they used a bit of all of them.

IIRC there were actually 3 or 4 developers working on the game under EA's management.
Admittedly, I bowed out early. It felt like a grind (not progression) from the start. For me, progression implies enhancements in a chosen area, to shape my character to be the character I'd like explore. My experience with SW:BF2 is different. I played for a period of time to open randomised loot boxes in the hope I got something interesting.
I get it, games cannot progress forever. The Division, Destiny, etc all get grindy ... but they're not grindy from the start.
Aesthetically .. it's a gorgeous game. You can't argue that.

It has prequels content so I really can call it ugly.
