For those about to work, We distract you!

By Noosh, in Star Wars: Armada

So here I am the day after Xmas at work, while the rest of the civilized world sleeps off the xmas cheer. I was wondering who here has to work today or yesterday? Secondly how do you plan to spend the hard earned currency units?

Me I'm thinking some foam for transport, or save for some MC75!

The minute Christmas Day was over - midnight - I was working.

At work now. Even with the cold I caught over the weekend. Counting down to 5:00, and wishing for either the sweet embrace of death or bed with extra covers.

Did they at least give you a payed day for Xmas?

@GrandAdmiralCrunch I feel your pain, some kind of hidieous mutant upper respiratory thing here. I'm currently stareing at my film processor and wanting to curl back into bed as well

I am living in a plague house at the moment: three of four kids - plus the wife - all came down with a stomach bug last night. At least for the kids, it seems to have passed quickly (the fourth had it on Saturday/Sunday)... but I'm just patiently waiting my turn.

Finished the final 4 AM start of the season today, and I'm relieved. The early mornings where beginning to get to me. Still, it's nice I wasn't on the salesfloor much once we opened- The Giftcard shopping frenzy had already begun as I left.

Same ****-spawn infection here. This bug hit sudden and quick

Bahahahahahahaha....

Like THAT happens when you work Part Time Retail Graveyard.

in fact, that was why my shift started at midnight and not 11, to avoid having to pay the day or the rate.

What fun it is, do you feel like someone took a blet sander to your throat, and sinuses? That's by best discription right now even with medicine.

I know, I wish it weren't so though.

Outside of a flotilla/one big ship abomination, I have everything I need for armada. That said, I'm turning my credits into an island for my kitchen. Being an adult sucks.

I do have "reserve" credits for the Mc75 and Chimaera, though.

Gifts for tiny-hulk consumed all my credits this year, but so worth it. She had so much fun with her first Christmas.

Work is super dead, but since two of my minions and my boss are out, someone has to be here to make sure any emergencies get handled.

Yup. My sinuses are so stopped up I can barely breath. I just hope it ends quickly

At work.... But had a long weekend with 2 days paid holiday. So I'm fortunate.

Work?

Right now I’m trying to figure out if I can sneak in a couple of Armada games during my break.

Thank goodness for Vassal ..... just saying.

I return to work tomorrow.

Today, I'm going to play some Armada in about an hour and a half. Just enough time to:

  1. Finish up an HNN blog post,
  2. Do my part against gamerfunk (by showering), and
  3. Pack up my stuff (I've been painting squadrons - including some nice new acquisitions from Mel's)
  4. Head to the FLGS.

I do IT, so I'm back in the saddle today, even though I triggered my allergies by trying to clean up the server room. Probably use my credits to get one of the TLJ Lego sets.

Dras, you need to work for my company. Sure sometimes the hours suck, but the benefits are pretty good. Like holiday pay.

In trying to save my credits for the profundity and chimera, and the legion release. This time I'm going to get my own core set instead of splitting it, but build up a rebel force before an imperial one. Instead of having to buy another core down the line to start collecting imp stuff.

It just happens that, basiacally, because I require *only* Graveyard Shifts (to look after my boy during business hours), there's really not a lot of jobs that I can do... Even though my field is administration, computer management and data entry - there's no inventory positions that aren't split shift or continental shift... So all I can do at the moment is pack grocery shelves, and basically, that's minimum wage all the way, with basically nothing tied to it.

Are there any production facilities around you that don't shut down at night. They may need someone with your skills on 3rd shift. Most time keeping systems still need an operator at all times to check, log data, and debug the system on the off shifts. Most if the time they like to keep 1st shift on call for stuff like that, but I'm Shure that if you made the pitch they would see the value.

The (additional) problem is those jobs are seen as "cushy" and thus, don't come up all that often. Because when someone gets them, they don't let them go.

True, us grunts on the floor don't take kindly to the seated ones. But I figured id throw the idea out there. Do you have experience in heavy manufacturing? If you do thier always looking for experience...or even inexperience that's smart.
