Rogue Trader Classes

By Kas, in Rogue Trader

Hey I'm new to RT and our group is starting a new game cos the old on failed, myself and tow other guys are new to it.

I was wanting to be either the RT himself or the Void master (whatever the pilot and gunners name is).

Could I get some idea though exactly what it is that is unique about the rogue trader class in game, apart from the fact he is the boss, what sets him apart from the rest, he seems to everyone else job... just not as well as they do.

The Rogue Trader also handles social interactions and boosted the other characters' abilities.

There is no reason a Rogue Trader couldn't be a Void Master, or Seneschal if the gm allowed it. The RT is simply how the "average" Rogue Trader would develop over the course of his career. It's a good balance of social and combat. With 3 people with no RT you might find yourselves lacking in the social end of things. Which can be critical for those aquisition rolls.

As I understand it, although I haven't looked closely, the RT is also one of the better classes for Melee fighting. Is that correct?

As long as you get decent Weapon Skill and 35+ Strength in character creation (buying more than one bad stat advance is kinda painful), it's streets ahead of any of the others. You get Step Aside, Wall of Steel, Ambidextrous, Two Weapon Wielder and Swift Attack long before anyone else.
