Aggressors to the test

By TwoDeeSix, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've got a fun game with my kids planned for tonight. They are taking the Ghost and some aces to back it up. We'll end up around 200 points each side I think.

I am taking Countess Ryad in an x7, and Duchess as my aces. I'm probably taking a Firespray as a heavy and a SF Tie as blocker. I'm planning on taking two Agressors to see what they can do. I plan on taking Kestal and "Double Edge." The question is how to tool them up for tonight. I was thinking of Synced turret, or dorsal turret (or one of each), then cruise missiles or unguided rockets.

Mainly, I want my kids to have fun, but, I want to really try out the Agressors. What do you all think a good set up, and also use for the Agressors would be?

Thanks in advance!

TLT is always a good choice. Then, depending on what your kids are flying, then single use ordnance might or might not be a good choice, if you can find the points or have the card, Accuracy corrector can be nice with two AC shots per round.(or four with "Quickdraw") PTL is always a solid choice on Ryad, again if you have it, otherwise I've found juke to be a good ept for X7 defenders. I don't know too much about strikers so I can't really say how to kit her, and same goes with the firespray.

I hope this helps!

Thanks! I was counting on PTL on Ryad. I had flown her like that before and it's nice. I got convinced to try the x7 Defender, and I'll admit, it's nice too. For Duchess, I was thinking Predator EPT, and Adaptive Ailerons, LWF (side note: the Striker is one of those few ships, that in my limited knowledge, seems to be a ship that is a complete expansion pack - having useful cards in the same pack as the ship).

Firespray was probably Krassis with Mangler cannon, Gunner, and Engine Upgrade.

I can do TLT, but was tempted by the shiny new stuff. TLT would be good for both flying tightly together I bet. Ordinance is a "might as well try."

I had not thought of Accuracy corrector. I'll look at that too.

Thanks again for your help!

edit: If I'm reading right, AC is a system upgrade, and I've only got a spot on the Tie, which was just a Zeta Specialist and as a blocker pretty much, but, for AC, I might use a better pilot.

fact checked AC

Kestal likes to have a good single attack that throws as much damage as possible, preferably one that allows her to focus most turns. Deadeye and synced turret is great on her, but she doesn't really like missiles that spend a target lock. She's probably fine without one, but if you want to try some ordnance, I'd recommend a harpoon or homing missile for damage or an ion missile if you feel like you need the control. Double Edge however wants to be kitted out to get the most out of his attacks. It sounds like he'll be shooting late so you won't have to worry about too many tokens being left around. I'm a big fan of either TLT or Ion turret and either unguided rockets or cruise or ion missiles to keep him loaded up but still cheapish.

Ryad should do great. She's tough, hard to pin down and throws decent attack dice. Duchess (or even strikers in general) can be a beast as one of the high PS ships on the board. She's just as tricky if not more so than the defender to pin down and strikers hurt. They can be a bit fragile when caught though, and your kids should feel good about being able to trap either of your aces and taking them out. Should be very instructive and rewarding for everyone.

AC is great for your blocker zeta too. I'd argue that its actually a lot worse for the /sf aces than for the generics. You'll want a Zeta to bump and block as much as possible, and you'll want a defensive focus as often as you can get it while still stopping another ship. It's a tough little cookie with LWF and AC and comes in I believe at only 27 points.
